So, the rumour mill is mongering, etc.

How would YOU cast this film, Case, Molly, et all? And no, not Keanu Reaves please.

Neuromancer (2011)

Inevitably there are some that will think the Matrix came first but the more informed will know better.

They do seem to be going for one of sci-fi book nerds' most hallowed of hallowed. I'm rather hoping they'll use unknown / up-and-coming actors for it.

I dont think Neuromancer has mass appeal so they'll have to use well known actors to get the plebs in.

I hear ya. And the suspicious side of me says they're only doing Tron2 because they must have a TV series lined up to hit after the movie. Maybe some merchandising. etc. etc. ;)

The guy would just be method acting though, wouldn't he? ;)
If anyone can play a smacked out junkie, it's Robert Downey Jr!

And those people saying "Keanu Reaves" are just thinking of "Johnny Mnemonic". If you've actually read the books and short stories, you'll know that Johnny Mnemonic comes BEFORE Neuromancer and it's Molly that hangs around with him, not Jane. Yes, Molly Millions links Neuromancer and Johnny Mnemonic. :)

They've all proven themselves to be able hold their own in action films.
They're pretty *AND* can fight. A win-win situation.

Reeves can play a drug addict quite well. Remember "A Scanner Darkly"

I don't have anything against Reeves as an actor, but he seems "the easy choice" for a role like this.
Film Exec 1: We need someone who can do plugged into the internet.
Film Exec 2: Why not Keanu Reeves? He did it in Johnny Mnemonic and the Matrix films.

I'd personally rather someone else has a crack at it

You can also probably guess that I'm a big fan of Wiliam Gibson. :)
I reckon his best writing is the short story "Hinterland".

From Gibson's blog...

"THAT NEUROMANCER SCRIPT"

I did not write that. (I’m assuming there is still only the one, which as far as I know is by Chuck Russell.) I had absolutely nothing to do with that. The problem is that shabby Dickensian script-floggers throw away the original title-page, forge one with my name on it, then charge more. This is an item I refuse to sign. (Though I have signed a few, bleeding heart that I am, when some poor sucker has stood in line for an hour or more; I sign them “I didn’t write a word of this – WG.”) "
