Reeds in my local canal. The surface is covered with algae. Taken on a Holga with 120 mono film.

You don't need an exotic location though - it could be as simple as a leaf on a frozen puddle in a field somewhere. I have an idea for a piccy tomorrow, if the weather holds I'll be off to get it.

Here's my abstract interpretation on water.

A maximum aperture for a very shallow depth of field and focus for an intimate feel. I only wish I could post it at maximum resolution.

Worsley Packet House, on the Bridgewater Canal just west of Manchester. The water here used to be a deep shade of orange due to iron oxide leaking out of the underground mines (some 40-50 miles of them here), but it has recently been cleaned up. Doesn't look as nice in my opinion.

A couple of different takes on water from me, again they're old but they're about our interaction with water.

Ben Ledi on a crisp new year's day, one from my Scotland shoot. Water in the form of the lake and it's reflection, partial freezing at the water's edge and the snow capped hill.

Corrected for exposure.

Right i havent had time to fire up the old PC so i have had to copy one of the oldies from FB.

Here goes.

1. View attachment 4857 _ Portugal 2008

2. View attachment 4858 - Qatar 2005/6

3. View attachment 4859 - Qatar 2008

I really need to start playing with some of these pictures with photoshop but i never seem to have the time anymore.

**Edit**

For those wondering the one from FB is the second one.

Billargh's weir shot. I'm not a massive fan of that softening effect (sorry Milou, G) but I like this one. Second would be Itcheh's 1st Lake Eerie shot. Easily the best of the sunrise/sunset shots.

This is a toughy. Some great work on here.

I'm a fan of Milou's composition; technically perfect, the colours, the spot on timing of the light, the wood is pleasing on the eye by how it's framed, the subtle use of long exposure to give the water a feel. I also like Gaff's exotic shots of the Franz Josef glacier and the sunrise picture is just ethereal in it's peacefulness and the glow of the sky. I think you did a good job on that one Gaff, the other sunset pics don't do it for me, I don't like shots into the sun like that. I'm a big believer that sunrise/sunsets work best when the sun is down. Tom's canal pic is well composed, shows the functional nature of water and the focal point of the mock tudor house leads you into the picture.

But I have to pick just one, however I would like to pick more.

I vote for PcG79's picture. I just think it's a brilliantly simple composition with solid colours and the jet ski in the top right hand third of the picture giving it that all important interesting spark. Although it's not as technically good as some other efforts on the thread, it just jumped out and grabbed me.

A joint second choice would be Milou's picture and Gaff's sunrise picture. Both awesome.

I love milou's pic, but I think G's 3rd says water more to me than any of the others.
