The 7D looks like an excellent package on paper, but you're right about the price - £1600 at warehouse express? I'll take a 5D MK2 at £300 more please!

It's sparked a lot of debate across the camera forums, some see it as a dream come true but others see it as not much more for a lot more money. I got very excited about an 8 fps, 18 MP full-frame camera (given the name was 7D and not 70D), fully weather sealed unit, as that gave me a solid full-frame upgrade path over my Pentax K20D, but to find out it was APS-C, still-not-fully-sealed and at that price, I felt a bit more 'meh' about it. The pixel-peepers have been out in their droves and the results from the Pentax K-7 v Canon 7D image resource comparison have given me faith that the K-7 is still an excellent camera at over £500 less, with in-body IS and proper weather sealing.

Once the Canon 50D has another price drop, it'll make it a superb purchase. £800 for the 50D would leave you another £800 change towards a 70-200mm f/2.8L .

I suppose none of this matters if you suck at taking photos .

Heh, I was thinking "well if I spend £x more to get the 7D, I might as well spend £x more to get the 5D MkII", where does it end. Get in my thread please and convince me to go back down to the 50D.
