apathy eh?

Should I take a pic of a mock up of the old mcnp channel?

Hmm, I'll give some thought to a serious pic too.

There really need to be some less vague rules about what can or cannot be done to images.

Ok, send me what you think the rules should be, and I'll amend them. I should make Teedles do this, since he knows about photos, but I'm here at the moment and he isn't.

Or... Just ban anyone to a proper photography forum who takes it all too seriously and treat it like the bit of FH fun it should be.

Taken late December when I didn't really have a clue about photography.

stunning pic, but I don't get how it symbolises apathy?

I'm just going from what wiki printed - 'where an individual has an absence of interest or concern to certain aspects of emotional, social, or physical life.'

Reading over it now I guess it probably would've probably worked better if the subject was 'carefree' or something along those lines. Figured the two in the photo could be feeling the 'abscene' of everything, with them staring out into an empty view like that.

Yeah yeah not the best explanation anyway, I'm no good at explaining things :D

Maybe he was going to throw her over the rail, but then couldn't be bothered?

Who's going to "decide" the winners?

The person who names the theme gets to select the winner - in this case, Will. Common courtesy would dictate that the person who selects the theme doesn't make themselves winner :)

Or we could just do a simple vote, maybe the theme selector nominates 3 pics, and the forum votes on those 3.

That might of worked if the guy wasn't staring at her tits.

Anywho, i've never taken a pic (serious) in my life, don't own a camera only on my phone but can pull something nice out of photoshop, so just how strict is the "retouching levels only" rule ;)

I turned this

In to this

As you can see my alterations were subtle and people living there clearly wouldn't be able to tell any difference. :)

I know bob is only joking, but shouldn't we restrict people to new photos they have taken themselves. No digging through your old photos for entries and no "retouching" someone else's work.

I'm going to tighten up the rules at lunchtime. I'll select a shortlist which will be put to the vote for a winner.

Again, where is the apathy in that photo?

Yes, that would be allowed as a non-selective image adjustment.

are we going to ask "WHERE'S THE APATHY????????????????" about every post?

i've always thought that is kind of empty. headless figures in suits staring out to sea on a grey day where the skyline and the sea merge into one...

well, yes, as I've always understood apathy to be a complete lack of wanting or being able to do anything. Its an inability to care or carelessness about the world and whats happening in it and around you. So I've seen no apathy in the photos shown thus far.

in that case we're going to have to take portraits of emo kids.

Since no-one seems to have a clue what apathy means, dictionary.com definition:

Well I wasn't strictly joking, point I was making is i'm no photographer but i can produce an image which is just as good with a few tweaks on ps. The original source of the 4ft piece of rock was taken by a friend of mine (due to my lack of camera) so i'd guess that breaks the rules anyways :p

The picture in the link below has never seen a camera and was completely photoshopped, it's better than a lot of photographers work.

As a photo-realist painter, I have often been asked why I don’t just take a photograph. Good question, when you consider my paintings look like photographs. Well, for one thing, I’m not a photographer. To me, it is not the destination that is important—it is the journey.
The incredible challenge of recreating reality is my motivation. —Bert Monroy

Anyways, I respect this is a photography compo so i'll sit this one out :)

Goodluck to those who enter.
