Poor taste guys, I know no harm is meant but some of us have lost friends and family recently to heart attacks. I don't mean to be a killjoy or go all carebear but please consider that other people are going through this shit at the moment and can't see the funny side to something that destroys families.

Are you from the UK chod? its a very british thing to make jokes about bad situations. Its not intended to be mean or insensitive, its more about dealing with it. When my Great Gran died my uncle was up checking for a pulse at the funeral cause we were all convinced she would never die.

we even made jokes about the tube bombings a couple of years ago (which i missed by 2 tubes)

No offense was meant by anyone, its purely a cultural thingh

I wish it was. Chest feels like someone's sitting on it and sharp pains when I breathe. Had this for over 24 hours so would have to be the mother of all farts if it was wind

My bet is you have something like GERD, Gastroesophageal reflux disease. Try some Gaviscon first, go to a chemist and get Gaviscon Advance as its much better than the normal stuff you can get from a supermarket.

I can feel pain just under my ribs where my stomach is and the pain extends up the centre of my chest. Really hurt if I pressed in those areas. Got my hands on some Lansoprazole which has seemed to sure most of the problems.

I have had cases with it where I can't walk up a hilly bit on a path and have to stop. It not my heart, it's just GERD causing me to be breathless. I get skipped heartbeats also from it, this has just started happening but I know what the trigger for it is but I just take weeks to recover from it sometimes.

Sharp pains when you breathe could also be condition called Costochondritis. This is inflammation around your ribs. Does it hurt when you press on your chest? I can quite a bit of this also.

In most cases pain coming from your heart will go away with rest where as something non cardiac related won't.

To be honest when I first started getting the problems, about 15 years ago it didn't hurt when I pressed on my chest. And yeah my mother has similar problems too.

Ask them about Helicobacter Pylori also. Its a bacteria in your stomach that can cause these problems also. Easily curable.

Two forums

http://forums.heartburn-help.com/index.php
http://www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=45

Reading these show that no one has similar symptons, there are loads.

Aye...I think my doctor pre-empted that - had to hand in a stool sample this morning (not the most pleasant of tasks trying to collect a jobby in a jar the size of your finger, I can tell you. A real leveller that is.)

I'd probably just get one of the huge cake tupperware boxes out of the kitchen and make my deposit in that, and tell them to keep the box....

I am from the UK, currently dealing with losing a loved one to a heart attack though and I know that other FH members have lost people in recent times. Don't forget the Freddy's Fallen either. I am not one to lecture on good taste, I can be as sick as the next man but I honestly believe this is one place we don't need to go. Joking that Lamp had passed away does nothing for me but maybe I am overly sensitive due to circumstance.

I think you are, I've lost people to cancer, heart problems etc, I still find the humour funny, more so because it is relevant.

Not everyone shares the same sense of humour though, so you don't have to find it funny, but at the same time you shouldn't tell others off for doing it.

Im like chet, i was making and receiving cancer jokes a week after my gran died of it. I guess it made it easier for me personally to cope with, kinda took the personal pain out of it, if that makes sense

Being one who commented myself, I'll say that in all honesty I do think you are being overly sensitive, but understandably so and I'm sure we are all sympathetic towards your loss. I am speaking as someone who came dangerously close to a heart attack last year and now carries a stent in their heart to keep it ticking over, so I do understand the serious nature of conditions like this, but as others have said we do have a comedic tradition of dealing with adversity.

Thoughts go out to you and your close ones :fluffle:

With all respect Cho, you can be very crude with some of your comments and indeed, while it is tragic that you have lost someone due to a heart attack (my utmost condolences), I think trying to silence/stop other people expressing their way of dealing with things is a bit over-reactive and pushes into the realms of wondering what is allowed to be said and what isn't.

Respect is always shown when someone passes (FreddysFallen is a shining example & the many ingame memorials in DAoC organised on FH) and the comments aren't trying to belittle heart attacks in any way at all. It's just, as Chet said, a British way of dealing and thinking with/about things.

---

That said - I went through a period of prolonged pains in my chest. I mean, sharp crippling pains whenever I turned over in bed etc. My heartbeat is also felt out of my chest. That is, you can put a finger to where my heart is and feel the rise and fall of each beat. Doctor said it was nothing though...

/hug
so what if you're being over sensitive you are perfectly entitled to it m'dear if we can't be ourselves here of all places then where can we let our 'real' feelings out, not irl thats fo' sho'.

I'm so sorry to hear you've lost someone you love from a heartattack, my stepdad died that way and I have to say it was a flipping shock because it was totally out of the blue. I know what it's like to have loved ones die of all kinds of stuff and tbh whether its cancer or a heartattack or a stroke it's equally as shit.

Have a cuppa tea and a choccy hobnob (or whatever the Aldi version of it is) and know that none of us meant to hurt your feelings and I'm sat here sending nice thoughts to you as you read this

First i want to say that i agree it's in bad taste, well, more personally think that shouldn't invoke any ideas into the universe such as someones death. That being said;

Thing here is, you feel it's "not a place to go" simply due to it being personal to you.

If we took all the things, of all the people here and all the things they don't like hearing...well...you can imagine.

Only way is for you to ignore and pass things that you don't like seeing or reading, i know that i should do it more often myself.

Also as said, don't take it as a lark from the members, i doubt anyone here means to cause others anguish.

lol that reminds me of that bit in Blackadder goes fourth where he says something like the only thing worse than [whatever it is he's griping about, the war probably] would be to be shot in the head with an arrow and finding there's a gas bill attached to it hehe

waiting for the results

TBH I don't really care as long as I get to keep my balls & don't have to walk round wearing one of those gay gowns that opens at the back & shows your arse off
