To be honest, I doubt the people espousing the benefits of Kazaa have actually even bothered to try Soulseek, it's so much better it's actually not even fair to compare them.

Oi!

I have been using SoulSeek since reading this thread , but today it closes itself down reporting 'could not receive server information.' Doesn't even let me access any options. A drawback of having server-based file sharing, I suppose. :/

I'll stick to Kazaa, thanks simply becasue it's evidently more reliable. I'll dip into SoulSeek if I want something I can't find elsewhere.

I don't like the idea of only being able to download each file from only one source. I'm not an audiophile, so Kazaa is prolly fine for my music AND VIDEO AND SOFTWARE needs so, like, whatever.

I could kick your arse, Kez. You want some?

WinMX is fine if you use it to its full potential, basically limiting your search to set bitrates & only downloading files that haven't been ripped by a monk (you can always tell by the filenames).

Gnutella is fine if you're prepared to wait & deal with the thousands of "selfish" ones.

I'd stick to FTPs though.....
