FFS!! too much gubbins!

ok so we got our tv, Mmm lovely, then we got our VCR, great get to watch tapes etc nice, then bf goes on about a DVD player so we get a DVD... Ooook not as good as tapes imo but they take up less space, now we go and get a digital box that has to sit on top of the telly because it wont get a signal if we keep it on the shelf below the tv with the VCR and DVD.

So theres lots of stuff, now my bf has gone away for the weekend and i thought "Hmm time to watch my new jurassic park DVD make some snacks and veg out" so go to watch the DVD and nothing happens, everything else is all plugged in here there and everywhere and the dvd player is just plugged in to the electric socket and not the tv or the VCR so i can't watch my DVD! (which really bummed me out as i borught 2 new ones today especially for this reason).

There just doesn't seem to be enough room and holes and stuff to stick the cables and whatnotts in to, its a bit like spaghetti junction back there.... so can anyone tell me what to plug stuff in to so it all works please?

or is it just not possible to run everything at the same time and you have to keep swapping cables and stuff (cos with my history i'll probably electricute myself) or do you need to get like a mega super thingy that you just plug it all in to and plug that in to the tv? (do they exist? if not ™ on multiple pluggy inny things™)

failing that, does anyone live in or near bournemouth that can come over and sort it out for me?

Well poo.

The possibilities of you setting the cables into an unworking situation is quite high now.

If you can, set them up BACK as they were, because that's the best shot in ever getting them to work.

Few tips:

Press power button on the applications...like...switch them on.

Check that all applications are getting power. In other words, are plugged into power outlets.

lol theyre all as they were, the DVD wasnt working before i touched anything, the only thing i did was try adding a cable from the dvd to the vcr and that did nothing.

you usually need to connect the DVD player to the TV via Scart cable:

Look for one of those cables, then look for corresponding sockets on the back on the TV respectively the DVD player. Connect both, then switch on the telly and go to a channel "AV" (if it doesn´t work already).

okie dokie, if i do this i'll have to unplug a scart from the vcr or digi box, so thats the only way then, i cant have it all hooked up at same time?

Some TVs have two scart sockets, some (older ones) don´t. If there´s just one socket on your TV, just remove the other end (VCR or Digi) and plug it into the DVD player. Plug it back to where you removed it when Jurassic Park is over.

P.S. and mind the top of the oven while you do this .. don´t get hurt again

aww sorry himse it looks like the problem is solved, i swapped the scart from the vcr straight in to the dvd so didnt have to unplug anything from the tv which is good cos if i did that it would have gone totally arse up

if you dont have enough holes for all the stuff that wants to fill them (i dont mean you, and several penises), you can buy a box that has multiple scart inputs then you can switch on the box which device you want to be displayed on the tv.
