I made this point in another thread, but ill say it again:

I dont think the point of an all girl squad is segragation in its self, its to elevate the status of CS amongst prospective female gamers.

Once there is a broad enough player base there will be more tallented female gamers like kat and the rest of Team.uk and im sure sooner or later you'll see more girls making their way into top mixed clans.

I think anyone who just yells 'sexist' is being a bit narrow minded. Its just to help women get a foothold in an overwhelmingly male dominated area.

and what media coverage has is recieved since its announcement?

Its been limited to gaming sites, and of those, mostly CS sites, such as csnation, and ukterrorist.

Prospective female gamers are probably going to play something they find fun, not because there is prize money, look at football, more people play in sunday leagues and for fun than they do for money and wages.

Do people start playing football because they see these people making money?

Maybe, but thats because football is a very high profile sport, you dont find the same level of interest in attracting new players via money/prizes in a sport such as water polo, let alone something such as Counter-Strike.

You miss the point.

Atm if a girl starts playing CS the chances are she'll be bombarded with sexest remarks and generaly made to feel unwelcome at some point. Knowing there are other girls playing will encorage them to keep playing and ignore the obnoxious minority.

Oh come on, they know other people are playing, its usually only those with nicknames that draw attention to themselves, or pay it ANY attention.

Kat for example doesnt make any comments to it and it dissappears, actually the times i've played with her no one has actually made ANY comments, although that was on Barrysworld mostly and then on burstfire.

My points being that its the girls who draw attention to themselves deliberately that get it.

Apart from that, EVERYONE gets abuse on CS, if i dont get called a h4x, a cunt or whatever at least a few times a day when i'm playing CS it would be odd ( and thats not because i'm a h4xing cunt :p ).

Your missing the point that everyone gets shit in CS.
Girls dont get more or less than anyone else, the tone and objective of it is usually different however, its more often sexually related, although one could argue that being called a cunt is sexually related, we all know its just a cheap insult because you just killed x,y and z.

I fail to see what fact that some girls like the attention they get has got to do with having a female CS Nations Cup.

And being in a minority DOES make things harder, dispite you thinking otherwise.

If a bunch of women/girls want to form a clan, so what? More important things happen.

The abuse? Children. You pay attention to children's outbursts only if you need to grow up.

Most women aren't interested in computers, just as most men aren't interested in curtains and pictures of their family.

I don't see a problem with it. If there are enough players in each country to form a team, then there must be demand for it. They are putting in a lot of work into making it work, and I don't think anyone has a right to say its bad except them. To say "Its sexist, its wrong" belittles their right to make a choice.

To hold a competition specifically for a minority group is quite simple whatever IST it is.

What if we decided to have an all white CS cup? Would we be condemned as rascist?

I think so.

How would they go about Proving your a Male/Female, Black/White etc?

Im sure many people would "say" they are female just to get into the Team and have a "laugh"

To hold an all-white event is not acceptable in our society. An all-female sporting team is. Not the same league, not even the same ballpark.

I have absolutely no problem with a female CS team as I am past the age when I feel threatened by a female who is better at something than me.

And Kat is better that 80% of us here? There is no denying that the girl is good but it has absolutely no relevance to this discussion.

Anyways... Good luck to them and if you gals want a friendly, the whores at clan {KEA} will be happy to oblige :) esp. Bozz

And what extra media coverage does mixed sex CS get? UK CS sites covering UK CS team news doesn't seem like a lakc of coverage to me.

I just leave the Forums Page open, and hit Refresh every now and then.
