...and it didnt have anything to do with a woman.

It is the Sunderland airshow this week but i suffer from rare panic attacks and cant handle the crowds very well.

I was walking my dog on the field next to the airport museum we have up here ( formely RAF Usworth ) when i heard the awesome sound that is the Merlin engine in the distance , loooked up and one of the battle of britain memorial flight Hurricanes was flying at about 1000ft above me , it circled about 5 or 6 times around the what was formely the airfield.

I grew up next to the airfield when it was still in use and im also a big history buff especially when it comes to planes , it was the 1st time ive heard a merlin engine in person and it was great to see a part of our history flying gracefully above me.

Hopefully they do the same with the Lancaster and Spitfire that are here tommorow.

Same distance away here, Ed, but don't get a great view of most of it, although the Red Arrows did fly right over my roof in one of the loop rounds for their performance - MrsJ and the kids are off down there today though :)

I will always remember getting soaked by a Harrier Jump Jet hovering near the pier at the Clacton Air Show. It was a while ago now though as i don't think the Jump Jets do the shows any more. I also love a trip to Duxford felling the weird surface of the blackbird was so exciting the first time.

I went to my cousins place in farnborough for a day out yesterday, and sitting in a bar next to the airshow, when they fly over the top of you to land was awesome, the huge AirBus thing made a shadow like an independence day scene lol

Mrs J called me as the Red Arows were taking off, so I got myself out into the garden.... I could hear them getting closer until they appeared over the tops of houses around ours in full diamond formation, banking left to straight over the very top of my house towards Farnborough - it was spectacular!!!

Lucky bastard! I miss Farnborough

Spent a few years down there and was about 0.3miles from the airport. Miss being there for the airshows :(

Mind you, I dont advice being in a car with a couple advice whilst taking a wrong turn on way back from Aldershot, end up heading along the side of a miltary base and deciding to do a U-turn at one the entrances. Ended up with 3 guards weapons pointed at the car.

.....
Always was lucky with airshows. Used to leave 10miles from Southend and had all the aircraft flying right over our garden, after that was about 25miles away and still saw alot of the show, but now in middle of nowhere near glasgow and all I ever see is the Rescue helecopters running training missions, though did get a medical helicopter land 50metres away in the grounds out the back a couple month ago
