Hi Guys,

I dare say many of you know people already who are takign part in the race for life to raise money for charity, and you might think 'oh no, not another one!', but please read this...

Debbie, my wife, wanted desperately to take part in the London Marathon 2007, and during 2006 was training hard to do so. During her training she began to get serious pain in her right calf, which the doctor diagnosed as compartment syndrome. Determined to go on to do the marathon, Debbie went under the knife in an operation to relieve the compartment syndrome but immediately following the operation she experienced serious pain through her calf and into her foot.

This pain has never gone away.

During the operation, the surgeon damaged her superficial perennial nerve, which runs through the calf and into the foot. Although she has drugs to combat the pain she has constant hyper sensitivity in her leg and walking any significant distance can be very painful. She considers what to many might be a trifling 5km as a little personal marathon of her own... if you can sponsor her, even just a very modest sum, she would truly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Jup.

I did seriously consider legal action about it... we have had informal feedback from specialists that it was slack, but what was worse was the fact that she was dismissed at the time with a 'see if it gets better on it's own' brush-off. My research is limited, but it did indicate that swift action MIGHT have helped the situation, but getting appointments through from the NHS, even with our own GP pushing for them, was like getting birds off Trem's lawn :eek6:

Thanks for the comments and donations guys:wub:
