Im now level 42 ish, been having nice xp groups up to this point and made lots of friends.

Now I have hit the bottle neck with fins etc.

Yesterday I had control of a fins list from 4am-9am. When I left I gave people the list in sends more than 3/4 times, cause people didnt want to take control of it. I also called my replacement. In the end gave it to Timer who took the responsibility. I even pointed to the people waiting there next in line to recruit but they didnt want them even tho they were on the top they wanted a warden which was non exsistent (only one who wanted in was a guildy who had logged). Then during the day I received angry PM's from people directly blaming me for any problems that seemed to have gone on and seem to say that jenny something or another the chanter was flaming all over the place about me.

Now today I put myself down for a fins list and they had blatantly replaced the bard twice (its easy to check only to do /who cursed gets the only 8 people doing fins in cursed) yet I was still no.4. Stranded who was in charge said you have no legs to stand so what if I got it wrong you f-d it yesterday. Then proceeded to tell me to delete my char and change my name.

For heavens sake this is a game, people go on word of mouth so quickly don't bother to check any facts find an individual to blame then ignore them.

I don't know what else to say really. I wish I could say Im going to avod fins now but I can't due to them being the only decent stable xp bar df.

there was some confusion the other day

i put my name on at 9am with wychhazel it think and then at 10 am i was told timer had it but he said person x had it and they said person y had it ... eventually a new list was started with jeanrivers .... later that day about 2 pm maybe our warden left and we had no replacement so half the group fecked off .... im happy to say that after trying for only 5 mins to find a replacement we carried on xping etc and as i left at about 6pm stranded took over form my position and to my knwoledge jean still had list and all was going smoothly ...

i bet as has been said holding the list isnt easy the amount of pms you must get etc and mistakes do happen ... as someone on the list i pm the holder every 30min - 1hour so that if it changes hands i know im still all ok and yes its a good idea to do a /who cursed to keep an eye on your position ... i.e 3 tanks are there your first on tank list and one fo teh tank name changes and you havent been called up ... supsic not that its ever happened to me mind

I understand for those waiting on the list to have it mucked up is very frustrating so to those Im sorry (and that doesnt mean Im accepting a guilty verdict of the trial being put on for me <shrugs>).

If anyone needs a 42+ bard give me a send at Wych, I don't like CM that much, DF is a nice place for loot cash xp. I also like trying glimmer knights did them once was nice till we got a double pull from a popped scout heh.

Oh and to any 50's that read this, thanks for you're effort on taking df over the past week it really was lovely of you. Helps us little kiddies along nicely.

Hiya, I have found that the fin lsit can be of immense aid in setting up other groups for EZ groups or even crim fins groups. Contact the list master, get the next names on the list to set up people on the list.

I only ever xp'd at cf fins once, for a mini ding at 43, and I hated every second of it. I found crim fins much more entertaining, as the opportunities to rvr whilst xp'ing often arose.

Don't let a situation like this bring u down m8.... finslist is known to be an issue so plz don't let these flamers ruin your time. Lots of people are not like that and they know what a crime holding the list can be.

Try to set up an XP group in innis for glimmerknights, do some hulks in DF or try some new spawns in SI. I only used fins to get from 49 to almost 50 in one day and i plan to do the same for new chars.

Trust me this is such a common occurence.... People cant be assed to run the list and many times the list gets dropped or lost...

1 day I logged on for a fins group at 0700 the grp had just started I was first on list....

PM 1 hour later and was told the list had been dropped but they would put me back on... I was now 2nd tank..

PM 1 hour later to ask for position status... 3rd tank on the list??? oks nps..

PM 1 hour later list had been lost I was now 1st tank on list... (bonus)

PM 1 hour later I was 4th tank on list... ((??)

No joke... I guess you will all have had similar experiences....

The list holder is an essential part of the fins grp and he needs to do it properly.... That means when the list holder leaves... He wont leave untill someone has taken the list properly and accepted the responsibility.

If you dont need your warden to tank give it him, they can usually sit about and deal with the pm's without putting the group in jeapordy cos they forgot to heal etc.

Yea that is a good idea. i know when i lvled to 50 i often did put in my brother lvl 49 warden in grp (when none on list) he didnt do shit. maybe tank sometime, heal? 1 every 100 pull but mostly just sit down.

Cant believe with all the new zones and dungeons peeps still run that aweful list, its THE SINGLE BIGGEST CAUSE OF ANNOYANCE IN HIBERNIA. I have read more posts on the fins than i have seen flames for rvr guilds on BW.

Its a bloody annoyance, list holder is not a nice job, and more often than not peeps get really unpleasant.

There is so much more to this game than fins, and im afraid that peeps who sit there from 44-50 miss out on a lot of good stuff, like warshades, knights, hulks, siab city and now all the lovely new dungeons......i know you can go to these places @ lvl 50, but its more fun to lvl there.

In short, dont let peeps get u down, fins isnt the only way to get to 50, and if someone speaks to u like this guy did, sod him. Sounds like a real prick, and not worthy of your concern, or even a second thought. There are a lot of kids in this game now, and kids tend to be quite nasty sometimes, comes from puberty, we all go through it......so just let em fume, and get on and enjoy the game, plenty of great players in our realm to group with.

As for holding the list, if people keep pming(like every30mins) u asking their position, ask them to stop pming and say u will let them know when they r up. If they pm again asking for what position tell them position and tell them not to pm u again or u will take them off the list. If they pm u again, tell em to get lost and scribble their name out and /ignore.

Having the fins list is a pain in the ass and so if poeple just stop bugging the list holder it might make things a bit easier and maybe make people feel easier about taking the list.

Does anyone xp in tur sul?

I do /who my level quite alot but it seems that alot of the time there camping cursed forest. I'd like to get to Tur Sul and have a blast but there aren't that many people my level to go their. Its easy enough to say organise a trip yourself but I've done this before and no one turns up or has to log withing 10 mins of getting their or after first death quit the group.

If anyone is organising something keep me in mind.

I'd say that the fins are good exp early in the morning when there still is good campbonus. Tho at this time it's hard to get a balanced FG so you can chainpull them.

there is warshades, Knights, Raven Wraiths, Siabra City, banshees, DF, Tuir Suil and Fomor.

problem is just that you gotta arse yourself to build up a group for it. But honestly, do you got anything better to do when waiting 6h for your spot in CF?

Of course the REAL responsibility for this lies with Mythic and their idea that grinding for days and days to get a level or two is somehow "fun".

Frankly xping is too easy in DAoC. The real issue with it is partly mythic and partly players faults. Namely the lack of varied and interesting places to XP. With SI that's been alleviated to a much greater extent before, the players are so set in the "must do fins" mindset though that it's hard to get people to go elsewhere. TBH what can mythic do about that other than giving people a "ding level 50" button?
