2 the brothers are irish, director is American. its set in Boston. So its only correct to say the language used in the film is english which would well more than 50% of movies anyway ^^ so not something you point out. There making a part 2 soonish xD

Ok :p I watch movies without feeling the need to dig for info after, was about 4-5 years ago I saw it as well, so hang me ;p

Follow ups usually suck :/

Bah, no true classics like...
Casablanca "Play it again, Sam."
Gone With The Wind "Didelidoo!" :D
...mentioned :(

Just saw Holy Smoke for the first time the other day.
Awesome movie. Great acting (Harvey Keitel, Kate Winslet) and a story that takes a unpleasant turn. Really hit you in the gut.
End seem like it was forced in by the producers wishing for a happy ending tho ;o

The Godfather movies, must have seen them about 40 times by now, they just keep getting better.

The Usual Suspects, as someone mentioned, is a true piece of art.
The plot is great and keeps you in the dark until the very end.

Hair. If you haven't seen this Milos Forman make of the hippie musical, go dig it up somewhere. Great music, great acting.

More movies I like ofcourse, but those are the ones right up there at the top.

Outland

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (the American drugged version of Withnail & I :p )

Withnail & I (the english boozed version of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas :p )

Those 3 are the ones I watch the most so will just say they are my favourites even though there are countless greats that I consider essential cinematic viewing history!! Outland I just love to me its a great oldie, sean connery is great as the tough lawman in deep space! I remember first watching withnail many years ago and just fell in love with the characters and their relationship together, and Loathing hehehe well Im a big fan of Hunter S Thompsons work and so had to see it and lmao it was perfect!(Thompson appears in the film breifly, at a table in the club Depp takes LSD in in the bathroom with Flea from the chillies :)) Acted brilliantly by the super depp/toro it makes me wonder what the hell Im doing here on FH and why I aint out there doing that in vegas!! :D

Those films were a 'heh' type movies, i really cant understand how they would be considered your fav films man, I can apperciate its your choice alright. You definetly need to see more movies :D. Look over some of the list's in this thread and get down to block busters with a wheel barrel!

The japanese were doing reality TV in and around that era already. That movie just played upon the nightmare-ish thought of when its brought too far and into an extreme. So the japs are way ahead of popular TV choice and the US usually steals there idea's which never really took off 5-30 years in the past and just hypes the shit out of them before release :D.

Why those gone with the wind etc type films didnt get put any many peoples list ? probably because most people who post here arent either 40+ years old or female, not that even a 15+ year old female be into them anyway. The stories set for a different generation who could remember growing up in wartime conditions or post war conditions, as opposed to now when war happens but its normal or not a big deal to most.

Oh and also... Requiem for a Dream is an excellent movie, but how you can watch it more than once is beyond me :D . I found that movie so depressing and will NEVER watch it ever again.

No one has said The Usual Suspects!

Possibly one of the greatest films of all time!

Got to agree here, nice to see some people adding it later in thread tho ;)

Hmm, there is a lot of great movies out there, but:

The Usual Suspects:

***DO NOT MARK TO READ IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN IT! IT WILL RUIN THE MOVIE! DO NOT MARK TO READ***
The first time you see it, you get very surpriced with him being Keyser Soze, well done movie and very realistic and the character Keyser Soze gets way more impressing in the end, when the truth strikes
you

The Sixth Sense
***DO NOT MARK TO READ IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN IT! IT WILL RUIN THE MOVIE! DO NOT MARK TO READ***
This movie have to be mentioned due to the instructors great work, you never realise he is accually dead, but when you see it the 2nd time, it holds water... not 1 single time is anyone accually speaking to him, they are either speaking to someone else or to themselves

Beside those 2, as outstanding masterwork, other great movies is:

LOTR 1-2-3 (Not the best due to just being films made on the worlds greatests books, if it had been an "original" thing, they had made out as the best)
The Negotiator
Euro Trip
American Pie
Excosist
The Shine (The Shining?)
Finding Forrester
Shrek 1-2
Spiderman 1-2
Troy
The Italian Job
Star Wars (1-2-4-5-6)
The Green Mile
Hmm, lots more, I am sure, but Im bad at remembering the names of things on the spot :) Generally, beside those mentioned, I like movies with a GREAT story to tell and movies with surpricing endings are the ones that really make me love them

EDIT: To all those who love The Usual Suspects the rumor is (calling it a rumor as I have not myself readen the statement / press release, but a friend told me this) that a sequal is being made, on that:

***ONLY MARK IF YOU HAVE SEEN THE USUAL SUSPECTS***
I wonder how they are planning to create the same mystocime (sp?) that the first is so bound around and if they want to make the same climax in the end, and surpricing element, or if they will just tell on about Keyser Soze, the main character from the first... we will have to wait and see, the production have not started yet as far as I know, so it will be a while before it hits the cinemas

If you have any information on the production of the sequal, please PM me here!!!!
