Carrie or Christine for me. Green mile maybe, did a good job of translating that to the screen. Shining is the scariest....red rum <shudders>

Stand By Me, Shawshank, The Running Man, Misery.

Some of the list in the OP are so much better in book form, IT being the best example.

Books are usually better than the movies, although as someone said above, The Green Mile was a very faithful representation of the book.

I'll be an awkward bastard and say that I really enjoyed the TV adaptation of The Stand. But then I am a sucker for post apocalyptic stuff.

Children of the Corn was great - like a religious version of Village of the Damned...

Edit - oh and your missing the Langoliers from that list which the Mrs loves but the crap english accent in it makes me cringe...

I would have to go with the stand and the stipend of the century. I can't wait for the gunslinger to be done.

From that list,
The Shining, The Running Man, Cat's Eye
With an honourable mention to "The Mist" for being the inspiration for "Half Life". :)

Shawshank, Green Mile and The Mist (especially for the ending, totally against the grain)

Sleepwalkers!

I also loved Needful Things, but the film was a massive let down for me :(
