The explosive shit is in my very personal opinion the very highlight, the crescendo if you will, of the 'shits'.

It's my oldest mate's 50th this week and I know he's partial to a bit of whiskey, what's a good whiskey in the £50 range that he might like? I know he likes Jack Daniels.

In all seriousness, Jack Daniels, whilst not actually being a bourbon, is very similar and meets all the requirements to be called one so I'd do a search on Youtube for 'best bourbons for mid-range price' or something and then see what you can find on Amazon. Don't buy him a scotch if he likes bourbons.

This is my favourite bourbon - Woodford Reserve Kentucky Bourbon

Comes in a lot cheaper than £50, but I'm sure there is a special edition bottle you could get

A decent Irish Whiskey is more reliable than most of the bourbons we get in Europe. In your budget try Teelings:

I did a tasting of their stuff a couple of years ago and this is excellent.

Thanks for the advice, which I read and ultimately ignored because I got this instead from a Whiskey shop in Manchester (was £51 in the shop):
