Any Tolkein experts able to verify this ?

Apparently, the Mouth of Sauron flees the destruction of Mordor and comes to Cirith Ungol where he is ensnared and imprisoned by Shelob. Later on, Arwen and Eowyn journey together, locate the Mouth, kill it, and also kill Shelob.

m8 of mine read it in one of Tolkein's short stories post ROTK.

I thought I knew the Silmarillion / LOTR story - thats news to me. Grateful if anyone can verify it.

(Yes, I know he gets beheaded by Aragorn in the movie ROTK but in the book this doesn't happen ofc)

I don't remember this,
It obviously was not in the Silmarillion, nor in The Unfinished Tales I, which were mostly about much earlier times. I think there was a second book of Unfinished Tales, where Christopher Tolkien, edited/compiled some more of his fathers unpublished stuff, I will have a look when I get home, it has been a while since I looked at the books. I am tending towards not really. Shelobs mum died in one of the books Ungoliant was her name, she had something to do with Surons predecessor, Morgoth but its a l a bit hazy :)

Doubt Arwen went to kill anything anywhere tbh - she was not a warrior or even very active in the world in the books. The "active Arwen" is a product of Pete Jacksons desire to include another strong female character in the movies besides Eowyn.

Shelob was a scion of Ungoliant, a demon from the First Age who assumed a terrible spider form. Sauron was a Maia and servant to Morgoth (a fallen Valar). Morgoth formed an alliance with Ungoliant and together they went to Valinor and stole the Silmarils, three holy jewels of Elvenkind. Ungoliant defiled the land of the Gods and destroyed the Two Trees so beloved by the Elves and Valar. Yet Ungoliant was still hungry and craved the Silmarils that Morgoth held. But Morgoth would not relinquish them even though they burned him, and Ungoliant attacked Morgoth. Morgoth, despite being a mighty Valar, was perhaps no match in strength against Ungoliant, and called upon his Maia leutenants to aid him. An army of Balrogs rushed to help their master, and they drove Ungoliant away.
