Fastest GF2 Ultra and only £289.04

Not bad but I still don't really trust OcUK :/

I ordered about 12 system components from OcUK the other day, ordered it late (12:00am-ish) on Wednesday night and got the job lot as expected on Friday. Delivery bloke even managed to find our not-quite-where-you-might-expect-it-to-be work premises without any guidance.

I'm looking to buy a new system towards the beginning of June - where's the best place to get the parts from?
I mean, I've got a good price for RAM, CD-ROM, Monitors and soundcards at a local supplier - but is OCUK worth buying from? The cost is a little higher for similar chips but they do have the advantage of being tested for OC'ing...

And what bloody GFX card do I want (for about £150)? I'm soooo fucking confused. It doesn't help being out of the gaming 'scene' for 6 months as I don't get the 'Inside Word' on stuff like I used to. GAH!

Depends how u like to set up your res for games. If u like lo-res 16-bit colour but uber-fast speed get a GF2 MX. Really cheap now and u can't get faster for 800x600x16.

If u want some res and colour depth then I'd wait for the new Hercules card based on the Kyro ][ chipset. It runs Serious Sam better than any other card out there Apart from that tho it's very good value.

Heheh. It was sooooo easy last time around. It was "Hmmm, TNT or V3?"

That basically sums it up. But now its like "GF2? V5? TNT2?" Aggggggggh.

I hear Tribes 2 and B&W run better on GF2 than they do on TNT or Voodoo chipsets....and those are the two big games I'm going to be playing.

So the question is - what GF2 to get?

Hmm. In that case it depends how falsh with ur cash u wanna be. If lo-res don't bother u go for an MX. U can get them for about 80 quid easy. If u have about 150 quid u can get a GTS. £200 can get u a PRO these days and £270 can get u an ULTRA. They all increase in performance from the model down in a nice linear fashion.

The thing to remember is that u'll only notice the differences the higher the res and colour-depth go. If you're happy with 800x600x16 then u'd be OK with an MX in most games. 1024x768x16 would work just as well on a GTS as on a PRO or ULTRA in most games, probably including T2 although I've seen no benchmarks for it yet. If u want 32 bit colour u'd be better off with a Pro. And so on...

From what I've read recently on NvNews and DailyRadar, T2 is an absolute c**t on your system. MikeC of the aforementioned NvNews has said it will bring any system to its knees, - he is only playing at 800x600 and that with a GF3 reference card!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
