No need for GF3 atm. It's not much better than GF2ultra except at antialiasing in current games.

Well yes delivery charge, about £20 at the most say? I have not bought any hardware from US, but I have bought loads of DVD's teh import tax on thoose was nill. If it breaks? Get a make like Gladiac or Hercules with European support centers.

Sometimes you don't get taxed and sometimes you do, it just depends if you're unlucky enough.

In no way are they required to sort out problems with your product if you got it from America.

I was always under hte impression that import tax was applied to anything over something like $20 (us) which amounts to it costing almost the same as over here. plus breakage :)

I've been charged countless times without fail for importing region 1 DVDs over here... for something like the GF3 it's pretty damn likely you'll be charged the tax duties. And they won't be cheap either...

I just read that PCPRO test of which you speak. They seemed to say the Radeon was the best buy. I'll go along with that. Better than my Rage Fury/SLI combo anyway.

Planning on buying it in a couple of weeks time. Think I shall go for the 64Mb DDR ViVO tho. Be a nice stop gap til I see what Radeon II has in store for us.

Im not an ATi fan at all. Honest.

Yes the LABS winner was the All-in-Wonder Radeon......I would still prefer the gainward over it though.

I guess the GF3 is designed to take the place of the GF2 Ultra, and then Ultra then takes the place of the GF2 GTS, and so on... thus the "F*ck Off" pricing on the GF3.

Ironic really, when the GF3 is around the same speed as the GF2 Ultra (Or is it GTS?), but does more effects wise. Why do Nvidia charge so much? Because they can. ;)

They think they can anyway. I think nVIDIA are in for a surprise to be honest. Even the most die-hard nvidiots are starting to question the price of GF3. Let's hope nVIDIA's fall from grace is more dramatic than 3dfx's. :)

The main reason they r so expensive is the memory. nVidia just spec their stuff real high so their latest stuff is always the fastest out there. Still too expensive for most ppl but they can buy the model down.

I cant help noticing the Irony in this Bodhi. Considering that on other threads you are extolling the virtues of Intel, another company who used to release all their latest processors at extorionate prices, and would still be doing so today if it weren't for competition in the form of AMD.

Whats new here? I dont think Nvidia will be in for a shock at all. They will only sell a few GF3's in the short term, but it will gradually be ramped up, prices will fall, and in about a years time it will be entry level. How exactly is this different from Intel?

And why would you want Nvidia to have a fall from grace? Lets suppose for a second they did a 3dfx (which I think is highly unlikely but anyway), leaving Ati as the only player in the graphics market. Do you somehow think that Ati would have more altruistic motives, and would keep the prices of boards low, despite there being no competition.?

I have bought from both, and thought service from each was excellent.

OCS has the advantage for me though that they provide free shipping to Northern Ireland. So when I bought a case recently, which OCUK wanted to charge me £45 to ship to Dublin, I got it sent to relatives up North instead :)
