I know what you mean by the fuzzy/laggy controls - they're still there in the full game.

A lot of people have said "bollocks, the controls are fine" but the mouse movement is wishy washy in comparison to the razor sharpness of, say, UT2k4 or counterstrike.

tbh i felt the controls in Halo felt very fuzzy but that was still a great game single-player. I just wouldn't ever play MP on something like that. It would be too annoying.

Anyway, I've just installed Far Cry. Might get to give it a go tomorrow :/

there is mouse acceleration options for a reason, use them , it removes the laggy controls, either that or turn down your settings as your getting shit fps due to the graphics and that could be causing the lag.

mouse acceleration made it even worse, as did turning senstivity down.

It's more a case of moving the mouse and things happening a finite time later - as opposed to quake3/cs/ut where the onscreen movement moves exactly in tune with my hand movement on the mouse.

It just doesn't do that in farcry.

Exactly my point about Halo. Although it lessened when I got a better gfx card. It's linked to performance somehow...

I have no problems with fps - my spec is fairly meaty.

How are you supposed to do the level where you start at the top of a waterfall with nothing but a crappy gun and 10 bullets?

Tried like 30 times, everything, sneaking, running like a mofo, swimming it .. so annoying. Ah well back to Lineage 2

I'm all set to uninstall this game and try to forget I wasted money on it. I've tried just about everything I know of (including a readme.txt full of tips) but it's still crappy. Visually it's nice, but I have a (relatively) old SB Live 5.1 card and the sound is choppy and saturated and everything that the readme says it is with most Creative cards. The problem is what it suggests in the readme doesn't help to get rid of the problem.

Even the movies at the start struggle to maintain framerate. The company intro movies. The movies, ffs... If it can't even play a little bit of video from a file, then what hope has it got of maintaining a healthy framerate in the game? :\

Thats similar to my spec only I have an XP2400 and Audigy 2. No problems here

Heh - for starters ignore the first trigen and just leg it off the waterfall. Then all you have to do is remember that the mutant arsebandits dont like water...at all.

Doesn't mean they can't shoot you from the bank though. I ran through the thick of it, managed to get to the helicopter and then it saves.

I always get blown up by those badass ones with the missile launchers when I go in the water, might give it another go tonight tho..

Seems reasonably fun. Gfx are let down by jaggies. Not sure my card (9800) could handle 4x AA though...

I'm actually really enjoying this now. Sneaking round the jungle is great but corridors filled with mutants makes a pleasant change of pace too

I had problems with sound on my Soundblaster Live 51 as well. Ended up switching to the onboard card on my Asus A78NX. (Actually better than my soundblaster as far as I can tell).

As for the game. I'll agree that it's stunningly beautiful. The engine behind everything is one of the most well developed I've seen in a long time and the AI is very well done.

The gameplay didn't grab me though. I love my FPSs, but I tend to look for a little bit more involvement in the story than just, "Kill 10 guys" ... "Find Health" .... "Reload" ... "Move on" .... "Kill 10 Guys" ... "Repeat"
A few switches here and there are not what I'd call engaging gamplay.

It's perfectly fine if you just want some mindless killing. In fact it's probably the best game in a while to deliver that. But I'll play Quake, Doom, or Duke Nukem if I want mindless killing.

I just re-installed System Shock 2 and am loving it.

My PC has enough trouble running KotOR at a decent whack, never mind this.

I played the demo - but had to turn off all the bling to get it to run at a decent framerate.

Deffo time for a new gfx card methinks - this GF3 doesn't cut the mustard, or any other seasoning for that matter, anymore.

Just finished it myself. The last level was quite fking stupid tbh.

I played it through on "challenging" wij. It wasn't that bad really although a couple of scenes were a bit of a grind.

Bloody good game, the MP is total shit so its going to be traded in for Pandora Tomorrow.
