1988 gassing, what I referred in my previous post, was that chemical weapons and kurd killing.

ok, but we were talking about 'was saddam really all that bad', you're now talking about gassing, chemical weapons and genocide, does that not answer your question?

How do you think UK got that oil? Iran just handed it over? Nah, you probably marked the right word

Or - shock horror - they bought it?

Well considering those assets were bought for a tiny, tiny, tiny fraction of their true worth from a previous corrupt regime over a hundred years ago because the Persians had no idea what oil was worth....

If the arabs want to sell thier oil its up to them, but when they suddenly realise that they have all the business acumen of a cow infected with BSE they suddenly turn around and say "actually we'll have that back thanks!", but ofcourse because they're the poor victimised token arab dictatorship/whatever, its obviously got to be us - the big evil empire of western democracy - in the wrong!

How come when they make a mistake a hundred years plus ago, its because they "didnt know any better, its not thier fault because it was their ancestors who fucked up", where as with the british empire, slavery and colonialism, it doenst matter that it happened over a hundred years ago, its our mistake, we have to pay for it.

I just get annoyed with all this. I honestly dont know whats right or whats wrong, things are very messed up and complicated and there is no black and white answer, so I'm going back to my default setting - my family first, my country second, every tosser else a VERY distant third.

Erm, I said CIA is now blaming Iran instead of Saddam for gassing those kurds which would have made Saddam random dictator - CIA haven't changed their stance with "Chemical Al" strikes in which thousands and thousands of people got killed -> Saddam is baaad.

No time to answer for the rest of your post, sorry.

True - invading Iraq was millions and millions times worse than capturing few soldiers. Take that into account and ask yourself this - if you are willing to go for a war because of some country kidnaps few of your soldiers what are you ready to do when some country bombs the shit out of your country and invades it? Bombing London and killing the Queen = ok but kidnapping few soldiers = bad?

CIA isn't changing their stance with "chemical Al" it seems so yeah, Saddam was a baaad boy.

The point it was not as simple as just saying lets go in and do x, y and z. They have kidnapped soldiers doing no harm and by all accounts not even in there waters.

We should just send in some Subs and sink everything that is in their waters. Do it on the sly like :)

What are you even talking about? Britain EXPLOITED Iran. Im not justifying any of Iran's recent actions i am explaining why Britain is refered to as the 'Little Satan' over there.

Forgive me if i am wrong but i don't remember the last time an African nation staged a coup in our country because we wouldn't compensate them or that time Greece funded a revolution because we wouldn't return the Parthenon Marbles.

Thats because they physically cant. If they had the ability one of them would've tried it years ago, imo if you think otherwise you are just plain kidding yourself.

They've already financed terrorism aimed at our country, you think they'd hesitate to do worse if they had the chance?
