Considering this happened at Glenlock this weekend (with our healer going LD, then not being able to log back on) but we had no problems what-so-ever relogging etc at Svasud, that indicates that the zones you refer to, are the zones in each frontier (Hadrian, Uppland, Emain etc)? Or is each frontier 1 zone? Or all 3 frontiers 1 zone? If its the first, I find it very unlikely that there were 1200+ people in Jamtland at 1 occasion, but I´ll trust your /who logs ofc. Would it be possible for you to tell us how those 1200+ people were divided between hibs/albs/mids btw? Since there has been pretty wild discussions about who had more people etc there, it would be fun to see the actual numbers.
A 'zone' in this case is an area that you have to go through a loading screen to reach. Thus all of the ToA areas except dungeons are one zone, all of NF is one zone. It's not referring to the named game zones such as Hadrians Wall, Gripklosa Mountains, Lough Derg etc. All the people in a particular zone are on the same server box in our cluster so if it's busy, everyone in that zone will suffer the lag. When you go through a loading screen you are being transferred to a different part of the server cluster where the new zone is stored.

I see. So the problem is a combination of too many people in 1 zone, and too many people at 1 place? Since we had no problem relogging etc at Svasud, but the guy that went LD at Glenlock (where the mainfight took place) only got a full loadingbar, then nothing more?

Yes in this case, the zone (the frontiers) may not have been too busy however the local area probably was. When he logged back in at Glenlock, the game was loading in all the textures from all the people around him. if his PC took too long to load that info in, it won't respond to the server query in time so the server will assume that his connection has dropped and he will go linkdead while logging back in.
