I have a debat going on with a mate off mine.. and we simple cant agree on this matter..

So I simply need to know.. is it called...

Min guild ( en guild)

or

Mit guild ( et guild)

theres 30 beers on the line.. which is it.. xD

does the word "guild" even exist in the Danish language? Shouldn't it be translated with something different? :p

That sounds stupid, so we use guild... Which is the reason they're having the discussion (there's no "right" way to put an article on the word.)

well.. we do. if im not mistaking, a guild is a Klan in danish.. and klan, would be placed with a Min klan.. ( en klan)

That's clan.

Guild would be translated to "lav". Like a håndværkerlav or something along the lines of that.

well look up the word guild in an english dictionary.. and compare the word guild, and clan to each other.. they are not far away from each other..

and Lav is with an Et...

It still is the direct translation, no matter how close the two words are :p

And I don't really think it matter, what the article of lav is. The article is not art-specific, but word-specific.

Like you can say "et hus" yet "en bopæl".

well guild in english is also called a gilde.. :p and dutch is a mix between, danish/german/french/english.. xD

im danish and would NEVER say "en guild", ET GUILD and MIT GUILD, but then I guess it is a matter of where you live, surden parts of Denmark it is more common to use EN and others ET :)

et guild. sagde en guild indtil jeg blev overbevist. nu lyder det sidste bare silly.
