Better than that is when you're on a support call and this happens:

Tech: "Just right click on my computer, and then left click on properties"
Customer: "Ok..done"
Tech: "It should have opened system properties, do you see that on screen?"
Customer: "Yes....Erm...oh my god, can you see whats on my screen??!"

You'll be amazed how many people think we can see whats on screen..

My favourite is to say yes, and then instruct them to click "insert button name/location here" before screaming "NO NOT THAT ONE!!!" and scaring the bejesus out of them :)

I always prefered the install VNC method of helping people. Mainly because i think saying "Right Click" "Click" are different enough not to have to say yes normal click if i wanted a right click i would have said so. Or when you can hear them double click everything "no thats just opened my computer" thats because you double clicked!!

lol that reminds me of the first time i did a remote session with someone,
she screamed OMG I BEEN HACKED down the phone and hit the power button (may fault really as i was lazy and only said "i going to connect to your pc, you will see a box appear etc etc")

Old people are funny when you connect to them. Or when they phone up about penis pill emails and sound all embarrased

I've dealt with real life friends who've said this about other OSs to me... It still makes me cry.

takes me back to my days of callcentre tech. the most common problem being people think their computer is the monitor and dont know what a modem is.

im also amazed at old people. youd think theyd not have a clue what to do compared to the younger generation. yet they were the easiest to help. i dont know if it was their willingness to listen (unlike younger people who did wtf they wanted) or they were secret whizz kids.

I have no probelm talking someone who has no clue though doing something. But when they start by saying "i know nothing about computers and im not really interested so don't use technical terms" i want to just tell them to turn the PC off then :( Why start by being defeatist.
