That £1 coin in your pocket could be worthless.

its not though is it? if i hand it over to a shopkeeper i get a product in return.

maybe its just me but ive never seen someone examining coins when i hand them over. they may shuffle about to count them but not examine how authentic they are.

they arnt worthless untill people stop accepting them. untill then theyre worth a quid.

I had one earlier. I bought a bag of crisps and gave it straight back to the shop who gave it to me originally ! No one's gonna hand them in. No one gives a hoot. As long as everyone keeps trading them the system keeps ticking along

Totally agree, but it's swings & roundabouts. By doing that we're making somebody else a quid out of pocket.

Shit happens i guess.

Admit it. If you had all the equipment, and could make a half decent fake pound coin, you'd do it, wouldn't you ?

No, I might be skint as it stands but I will never commit forgery.

I had one, someone must have passed it to me, newsagent wouldn't take it, I hadn't noticed it, but when I examined it ,it felt and looked different. He told me to put it in a slot machine! Lady at the Dartford crossing wouldn't take it so on the way back I threw it in their basket! It didn't notice!
