Yeah its quite good thing imo. For example if you want to join the uni.plymouth network you need an email address ending in @students.plymouth.ac.uk and be able to confirm it.

Really? What about ex-students? I know quite a few people on in student networks who've already graduated.

Got to say, now I've started to use it I can see the appeal, I've found some useful stuff on it and it integrates with my travel blog as well.

I think for ex-students its a different network, ie graduate.uni.plymouth or something.

it's quite fun and it's nice to see old school friends on there, some of whom couldn't even turn a computer on when i last met them. i found some people from junior school who i haven't seen in a decade and it's nice to catch up, and see if they became sexy.

I always find it interesting that people have this impulse to give away their entire life story to the entire world. It must help with identity fraud, surely.

All the stuff you stick on face book or MySpace can be seen by any numpty

Also, from my experience, very few people put much personal detail on their facebook account. Unless your identity can be thieved through knowledge of your favourite bands and best 80s action film quote.
