Extremely unresponsive and slow CS

I recently downloaded the new Nvidia drivers and installed them, but when i play cs now it takes 2 or 3 seconds before the game responds to a key i press or a direction that my mouse moves in. Overall CS has become very sluggish.
I had this problem once before and someone gave me a registry script for my mouse that I could run. This made it work with no problems. But the new drivers seem to have overwritten the registry entry and now the problem occurs again.

Im running Windows XP professional on a 1.8 gig Athlon processor
512mb ram
Geforce 2 MX 400 with 32 mb ram
40 GIG HD
Sis 7012 sound card

I did a full search of my hard drive and found the registry file. I added the file to the registry and ran CS but the problem is the same sadly.
Please, if ANYONE knows a solution tell me.

Thanks

No problems now, I changed 3d mode from Direct 3d to Open GL and it's working for some strange twisted reason :)

D3D sucks for CS compared to OGL.
