some of the stuff is to do with chinese medicine. i understand, some of it does work. ive had a qualified person massage pain from my knees i had for 3 years, and docs couldnt do anything about.

ye, if chinese medicine was crap then the chinese would of died a while ago. but was AIDs/HIV a big thing in china back then? would they have really made cures for a disease they didnt know about?

There is no proof that HIV causes AIDS, according to this website. Just like there's no proof that getting older causes old age in people. It could just be a coincedence, or old age could be caused by prolonged exposure outside of the womb, or extended periods of breathing. People always want to have a source of hope, which is why you very rarely see churches or pharmacutical companies being shut down and turned into wine bars. It's a long held rumour that the drugs themselves taken to fight HIV cause AIDs (they are really quite toxic), or that with just a few vitamins and a magical herbal pill that only a wizened chinese/mexican/indian/african herbalist can sell you, you too can flush this disease from your system. Or, perhaps just rape a virgin, which is also rumoured to cure HIV.

Abuse of hope is a multi billion pound industry. It's why politicians make promises they have no intention of keeping, because the hope is more important than fulfilling the reality, it's why magazines have front covers on with "Find out how Miss X Lost X stone" and fail to mention the personal trainer, the back of the toothbrush and the raging cocoaine addiction, and it's why people would be willing to spend god knows how much for the rest of their life, just so they can believe that the rest of their life doesn't have a shortened deadline.
