Ive got an old WD MyBook that I fear may blow up at any point now (its nearly 4 years old i think). So im looking for something as a replacement.

Any recommendations/brands I should look to? 500GB is probably enough (the current external HD is a 250GB deal still with 50gb-to-go). Cheap as possible, but with reliability key.

Danke!

PC World.
£40 gets you a 500GB external drive right now.
Get a Seagate one for £45 and you know you've got 3 yrs warranty.

Another vote for Seagate from me.

Mine is a 1tb one and it has been rock solid, WD have always died on me and although their My Passport range hasn't let me down I always back up whats on it to my Seagate.

Well I'm going to disagree with Trem and say WD's (Passport or Book) have never let me down. So there. The Passports are great and come in up to 500gb flavours, so it might be what you need, especially if you think portability is something that might be useful.
