howdy

i have a feeling my hard drive will soon die (i hear clicking but cant decide whether its the case rattling or the hard drive clicking :/) and so i want to get an external badboy to whack all the important stuff on. i imagine 250gigs will be more than enough but any size really.

budget of um... £75-100?

go go go!

I bought myself one of these, Icy Box or this Icy Box (I dunno the difference so I don't know which one I bought).

Then I got the cheapest biggest IDE drive I could find, which happened to be a Samsung 400GB on that site. It seems to be doing fine so far, although I don't know if anything else is better because this is the first time I went for an external solution. I was too lazy with all the fiddling about inside my computer. WPKenny might know what I mean :p.

As much as people have been bashing Maxtor, I still go for them (never had a problem) Bought a 350GB Maxtor external from PC World the other week, for £70.

Oh yeah, my external is a Maxtor too (as well as my internals :p) It looks sexy in grey, plugs into the mains and is usb or firewire connected.

Get the biggest you can afford, it will too small for your needs in 1-2 years anyway :p
