lol if you actually edit that picture you can see the 1 mithril is on the wrong side anyway (wrong position compared to the other monetary figures)

So, please provide link to the grab bag. I'm looking for facts, not more speculative opinions.

As I said, I know this used to be an issue but have no evidence that it still is.

If anyone has collected even just 300p on one char we would know that the old cap on plats had been removed...

Nice explanation found here:

Just FYI the character database stores a characters money in copper. The value is of the Long Integer datatype which has a maximum PHYSICAL value of 2,147,483,647 which is: 214p 748g 36s 47c

Why can a long integer only store that ammount? here is why:

Long integer range is between 2147483647 and -2,147,483,648 for a total of 4294967296 different numbers including zero. This is actually 2 to 32nd power (2^32) because the information is stored in a 32 bit binary number. The reason the range is one greater on the negative side has to do with the fact that the binary numbers are stored in two's compliment which is a method for coding the bits so that with a simple function (where A is the binary value to encode or decode A+A+1 gives you the twos compliment.)

Why mythic chose to store the money information in a signed data type is a question for them, since you cannot have negative gold they are esentially waisting 50% of their gold storage capacity. Most likely the answer is short sightedness.

Also why Mythic says they cannot change it is another mystery. Everyone knows that changing a data type in a table is not that hard when you know what kinds of data will be in the fields.

So my belief that Joe wasn't the lying type was misplaced.

I know this certainly used to be the case, but is it still the case?

Just asking because of this image from another thread:

http://onfinite.com/libraries/484219/c6a.jpg

No reason for Joe to fake/lie about the cash he has in that thread (he's not that kind of guy anyway, I think). Anyone else able to confirm that the 200-and-something cap on plats has been removed?

its clear that he has just copied the 16 from the plat count and pasted it over the mithryl then paintbrushed the 6 away (he hasn't even used the colour match tool in paint to do it either, so its really obvious in this case).

taken from the grab bag of camelot herald :

Q: When will mithril go into the game?

A: It won't J As most of our players know, it's not actually possible to GET a mithril in Dark Age of Camelot, and we're actually planning to remove the field when we redo the default interface. Platinum is as good as it gets.

Price of arties and rare drops will go down imho... 2 spots to be farmed in time and not mentioning there's gonna be shortened respawn time of arti encounters. (not sure if it's 1.75 or 1.76 though). Followingly the market's gonna be satisfied with the arties and when we reach the point of 'more offering than required' (don't know EN economical term for this) prices will go down or the pieces will stay unsold.
