I RvR as part of one (1) single full group, looking for challenging fights against either equal numbers of similar RR players or 2-3fg of low RR players. Maybe against 4-5 fg if we're in a tower. Those sort of fights usually last a while and are fun and challenging for both sides.

So getting steamrolled by a zerg is no fun for your 8 man group - but it might be fun for the 50+ man zerg. So now who is selfish?

A zerg of about 50 wouldn't have been so bad... we could have made a fight of it for a few minutes at least and EVERYONE could have had some fun. But almost 100 is just pathetic and ridiculous.
