Excal lag??

For anyone from Goa reading these forums, for the last few hours alb/excal has been getting really nasty lag spikes every minute or 2, sometimes 5+ lag spikes within 20 seconds, any update on what is wrong with our server?

it was lagging real bad on Prydwen - DF yesterday afternoon for loads of our guild too.

Used that program left it running for 10 mins and got packet loss on 193.252.123.33 & and pings of upto 210 on 193.252.122.14 which is the hop before excal server (193.252.123.33) this happened 3 times within 20 mins then not at all for another 30 mins so i would safely say its GoA's end

nearly fainted as Opentransit was almost always below 30 :eek2: ,

Even then, 270 ms spikes should hardly be noticable. It's been like that for ages (400 ms lagspikes) and the lag on Prydwen is unbearable atm, there's also lag on Excal but it's less now. At least, in the SI region anyway. That's why I started playing an animist there yesterday.

Since the ping stays steady, even at big packets, I think that the internal GoA routers themselves are under heavy physical stress. So, the lag should be gone as soon as everyone has the NF pack :-0.

Or until GoA moves the download to a co-location outside their network.

its been non stop since thursday last week, irregular periods of lag which comes and goes.

I clocked some heavy packet loss (bursts of 100% - averaged 30% over 5 mins) on the opentransit routers yesterday when most of the server was spiking, so it might not be goa's fault entirely.

And as has been said continuously [we told you so stupid customer, keep paying the full monthly fee and kkthxbye] by the Gamemasters. It is being looked into [that is all you need to know]. We can not replicate it and it does not follow any locigal (number of players on the server, number of players in the zone etc) pattern [we are clueless]. We have spoken to Mythic and they have the same issue on some of their servers leading us to believe that it is something in the coding causing it [dont expect it to get better]. We have upgraded the hardware as well as increasing bandwidth. [see we done our part now bugger of]

They're not incompetent at all, so get off your high horse and stop flaming people who are actually trying to help you/us. I have been one of the strongest denouncers of GOA's customer service, but it has gotten a hell of a lot better since the advent of Zenythe, Requiel et al.

The lag started roughly when the NF client was available to download and it will stop roughly when all have the NF client.

Problem solved, not that hard really.

I've been performing a traceroute several times this morning.
I get EXTREME delay when entering GOA's systems, up to 500ms+++ ... explain that plz.

They actually are explaining things as far as they can see them from their end. The lag we're getting ATM is fucking annoying, of course, but don't let that deafen you to what the GMs are actually saying.

Only thing they are doing is that they are saying that they can't see anything wrong with the server... but something IS wrong, and it's not just a small group of people on the server, a specefic area or a Internet Supplier - it's the upload/download from the server.

You might want to not rant at them so much then, or else why should they feel inclined to help you in future if this is how you're going to talk to them?

Agree with Greenfingers - sure the customer support is better but yet the lag that Prydwen/Midgard have had more or less since ToA day one is still just a thing they monitor and hope might get solved when they upgrade the servers. Sure they try to solve it but trying when it's been this long isnt good enough when they charge us money the whole time - they gotta put this problem up front instead of making sites for Catacombs and other stuff thats months away still.

And this has nothing to do with the gamemasters that respond on these boards...they are doing a great job in my book.

Just because GOA say that they haven't found any/the problem doesn't mean they aren't looking. As a matter of fact they say they are looking to solve the problem, and have even involved Mythic into this.
Yes as a paying customer you are entitled to get annoyed and angry, but that doesn't give you any excuse to be rude and obnoxious. That kind of behaviour only makes you look stupid.
