What is the percentage rate for A, B, C, d etc?

In South Africa an "A" was for getting 90% correct.

It's between 70 and 80 percent here, but it's dependent on the subject. Easier = higher percentage for an A.

Like i said though most of the subjects use the same system as maths. So from year to year a similar test can mean dif boundaries.

Oh ok...

In SA the % band remains constant for all subjects and years.

But if you just take "easy" subjects then you have no hope in hell of going to Uni or College after school.

Like if you dont take maths you could never go into any science related field in Uni. Only Arts type degrees.

If you want to go into a science related career you have to do a science related degree.

Sucks a bit cos you kinda have to start choosing a career when in school!!

Yeah but they also stay in "school" till they are 18, yeah?

As in here it's more common to go to a seperate college till 18 to do A-Levels.

Yes thats right. The school qualification is not quite as good as A-Level but its almost the equivalent.

That's weird as i am more then likely (Results permitting) off to either UCT or UPE after A-levels. They seem to love English qualifications (GCSE', A-levels etc) and i can go over with pretty medicore Results and still have my pick of places.

GCSE's are over hyped by the media, teachers, etc and yet they are one of the most meaningless qualifications in existance.

way back when, I think I got 11 higher grades (most a's & bs, 2 c's I think). Oh, and an E in french =)

then went onto a-levels, bccc.

2:1 degree.

And I've never been once asked about them in any job interview. Not ONCE.

If they had given out M grades at a-level, my mate would have been able to spell EMU. He went onto uni anyhow, got a masters in chemistry, and is now doing his PhD in Japan (doing research of some descript). All very strange.

Another mate got something crazy like 13 a's and a*s at GCSE. Only scrapped past his a-levels. Dropped out of uni during his change over year. He then went onto get a job as a network admin for a large retail chain, after working his way up from the shop floor. Was driving a 320i BMW company car at the age of 21.

Basically, dont take results as given, there are many many different skills that exam results dont take into consideration.
