Thinking of planning a kind of European road trip, just me and the feller next summer.

I'm thinking of a few places in northern/western Europe and a visit to a metal festival such as Roskilde, Rock-am-ring, Wacken etc.

Any of you done this before? Any tips? Any recommendations for the festival to aim for?

A vague schedule I had in mind was ferry from Newcastle to Bergen, train from Bergen to Oslo, Train from Oslo to Copenhagen, <Roskilde Festival> then fly from Copenhagen to somewhere like Nice, Rome or Barcelona then back to the UK :)

Sound good? Any ideas? Anywhere you'd recommend?

Ahh yes, Roskilde Festival.
Living in a mix of dirt, used condoms, beercans and human waste for days is so appealing :p

Couple of my friends were woken from their sleep at Roskilde this year. Finding a flashlight in the darkness of the night. One zipped up the tent opening to see what was happening. Turned on the flashlight, only to stare directly into deep dark the crack of a rather obese woman who sat crouched down right outside.. urinating on their tent.

I'd buy some shitty car and drive around instead :)

But come to roskilde mate! Always fun there. And i like you call it a metal festival, since its sooooo much more than that, altho the best part is still the metal ^_^

Mate went to rock-am-ring this summer - he was quite pleased so figure its much like roskilde since he likes that too.

Blackjack is right tho - gets preeeetty nasty the last couple of days - if you live in one of the bad neighborhoods :>

TBH I was gonna do it "posh" and stay in a hotel rather than camp :p Dunno though - how far away is the nearest half-decent sized town from the festival site? These things are usually in the arse-end of nowhere :p

I would aim for the Roskilde Festival aswell - unless you're walking around in some brand new clothes :)

Roskilde was awesome i strongly reccomend it. It has a great atmosphere and everyone is really friendly.

Don't go to the lake unless you want to see alot of fat middle aged men frollicking together naked.

Roskilde town has the biggest burgers this side of the Atlantic to, I like! :drink:

Well roskilde shitty (city) is 30 min walk away if you really want a nice place to sleep :p

But you'll be much happier staying in the camping area :)

You'll be sure to meet alot of nice people + its easier to get to bed when youre drunk instead of going all the way to the city hehe...

And its not messy at all if you camp far away from the main entrances...

And if you cba, make a camp for FH people :D

at least she wasnt urinating IN the tent, as someone i shared tent with assumably did (smelled of piss the following day and he woke up with wet pants and puke all over the tent, he still claims he didn't piss it...)
