So far its got :-

Winzip
PowerDVD
SecureCRT
SmartFTP
Office 2003

Adaware
Azureus

Mainly use the box for maintaining my various websites, writing creative role playing stuff and watching TV/Films

Spybot S&D
Regback (I think it`s called that, either way you'll want a registry cleanup tool)

PuTTY instead of SecureCRT, it's free and has plenty of features.

Filezilla for an FTP client, another free one and has a good variety of FTP options.

uTorrent instead of Azureus, much smaller!

I always reckon DisKeeper is worth a place on any PC to keep the hard drive up to scratch.

Delete Office 2003 and install OpenOffice 2.0 (www.openoffice.org) :p

Also I really like Partition Magic and if u have a DVD/CD burner I would get Nero 7 and CloneDVD aswell.

Videolan for all my movies.

Ultraedit32 for writing code, web pages, ftp client, despite the fact that it's coded by some sort of freaky born again christian who reckons god helped him build it, its the best text editor ever.
Vi for windows just makes you a masochist in my book :p

Dont install clonedvd or clonecd if you use EA games post 2005,
they have emulation detection security built in, even with emulation off in CloneCD it seems to pick it up and games like Battlefield 2 seem to refuse to work (which means CloneCD doesnt actually fully remove the emulation o_O)

Forgot the usual Divx, 3ivx, Xvid etc etc
and ofc videolan as mentioned earlier

People have already mentioned google earth and spybot, good choices, spybot picks up a lot of stuff ad-aware doenst.

My recommendation is PeerGuardian 2, blocks billions of IPs like government sights, peer-to-peer snoopers, ads, malware sights. Essential for safe surfing and p2p naughtiness imo ;)

personally i use Microsoft Virtual Machine for all my peer to peer,
download it free here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtualpc/downloads/sp1.mspx

remember to install additions from the File menu after you have setup your virtual OS, this allows you to share folders between the host and guest operating systems

We use VMWare at work, and I do have a sandbox at home for anything that could be risky :)

Honestly Winrar > winzip

Also, you might want to consider Gimp instead of Photoshop. Also, for movies, I recomend the mplayer port to windows. Never seen a moviefile that it failed to play. :p
