I'm always wary of things that seem to good to be true as we all should be. But after seeing an advert for envirofone and I decided to check out the website as I have a lot of old mobiles kicking around the place. The prices don't seem too unrealistic (nothing at all for my matrix 7110 nokia) but I can't help feel that the prices would be reduced for poor conditions.

Has anybody used this service and how much did you make if you did?

Used it a couple of times and got full price except on 2 phones. One of them had a back cover missing and the other was locked.

same here, except an LCD fault which i presumed was the screen. there was nothing whatsoever wrong with it, so i've requested it to be sent back... i'm still waiting though.

The 7110 was not the phone used in the Matrix god damn it!!

It was a modified banana phone.

I know that and you know that but not many others did. Although answering the phone with the slide button was the coolest thing ever.

Used envirofone about half a dozen times, prompt payment, always the full amount, fast service. Was very pleased. They also give better rates than others like mazuma.

I have seen those adds on the tv. The thing that I am wondering about is how they make a profit

You didn't miss much, the slide lost it's novelty quickly, and the wheel was just annoying.

lies!! the novelty never wore off, and the wheel was amazing at the time. I actually stil have mine but the slide has seized up and isn't cool anymore. The snake and tennis games were rubbish though.

The best way to get money from your old phones is to sell them when you upgrade your contract. Just stick them on ebay every 12-18 months, keep the box manuals etc and use a screen protector. If you get decent phones they tend to be worth a fair bit, most of my old phones I have sold for over £100, and usually they ended up paying for 6-8 months of the new contract.

Lots of people on pay as you go that want decent phones but cannot afford the offline cost for a new handset.

got my n95 back from envirofone, big scratch on the screen which wasn't there when i sent it in a jiffy bag with the phone wrapped in tissue paper inside.

i can't believe that it could get scratched like that in the postal system so i'm a bit disappointed.
