This is illegal, well in the Uk anyway, entrapment? As the posters under the article make clear as well sure is a good way to make sure that people dont help others as well in fear of getting their arses ripped a new hole in jail.

Scary shit, at least in England the police talk to you and most at least reason up to a point. Still i think the concentration put on petty crimes is ridiculous. And some police really need a sense of perspective...

i like how they take the piss out of it in family guy if anyones seen the episode when joe takes the boys out in his police van and when cleaveland steps in the automated computer drops a gun framing him and starts beating him with a baseball bat
