Rooney is such a fucking ****. I really hope the media give him a roasting but theres no way its going to happen. Why is he allowed to do fuck all for an hour then get a teenage strop on and ruin it for the whole team? Hes done it so many times before. Whoever said he has cleaned up his act is a complete fucking moron.

Ronaldo is dislikeable for so many reasons. I can't believe him trying to get Rooney sent off. Rooney should smash his face in once they are back training at Man Utd.

Oh dear oh dear

Ronaldo a cheat? Bollocks. He's a damn good player, just young.

If you'll class him as a cheat then you should put him on the same pedestal as Micheal Owen.

I was sorry to see England go out. Really I was. I have to diasgree though, Portugal were by far the better team. They're still not good enough to win it though.

I agree with that, strange that, bloody hate the French. Although Henry is a fucking god, I was so pleased he stayed at Arsenal, quality bloke and player.

Don't point the finger at 1 guy he is 1 guy and not the entire team, the entire team sucked bar a few players.

You sound like someone from the Sun.

As I said, Lampard has been clearly shite since day 1 of the world cup and Beckham really wasn't that much better, even though he had a couple of strokes of genius - Sven didn't seem to see it himself and continued plugging away until the end - perhaps making changes there would have strengthened the "entire team" from earlier on?

Michael Owen's injury was a blessing, he was pretty poor too but being in and out of injury can't help that.

Aada, you always sound like a child, but I don't feel the need to point it out, so feck off and let me have my opinion thx.

Blame the whole team, WTF?

The blame can squarely be placed at the feet of Sven, for constantly picking his big name players, irrelevant of their current form, I'd have dropped Lampard a long time ago, and most probably Beckham too. The squad selection was appalling, most other countries will have brought on their other strikers at some point, but picking a complete rookie, ahead of people like Bent & Defoe, and then not fucking playing him is just criminal!

Beckham did score the goal against Ecuador, but in 5 games, he put ONE decent cross in, which Crouch duly headed home to give us the lead against Trinidad. I lost count of how many crosses either sailed over the heads of the players, or failed to even beat the first man, for someone who's main game is pin point crossing it was a poor showing I'm afraid. To be fair, none of our crosses were particularly good from either side, which is frankly appalling from a country who's main game is usually the crossing game.

At times our defence looked shaky, but against Portugal they looked a good strong unit, I don't think you can really blame them, Hargreaves showed why he should be in the squad, doing his job brilliantly, and even showing some adept play to try and get the ball in the box, and Lennon validated his squad selection with some fantastic dribbling, a force for the future certainly. I was also impressed with Joe Cole, always running and generally causing a nuisance.

I'm not looking forward to McLaren being in charge, I don't expect much to change really :(

No, sorry, can't agree. Trying to get someone booked is craven unsporting behaviour, and just about the worst thing about this whole World Cup, far worse than diving or even feigning injury. Trying (and succeeding) to get your club teammate booked is not only unsporting but criminally stupid. Ronaldo will see it as just 'part of the game' (hence the wink to Scolari), but I'm guessing Rooney, Neville and Rio Ferdinand aren't going to see it that way, and Alex Ferguson will have his work cut out to stop Ronaldo being frozen out at United (let alone from getting a good thumping from Rooney) when they all get back to Old Trafford.

As for whether Portugal were the better team, well its the result that counts so yes they were, but given the constraints Sven had put on England, I don't think Portugal played better; far from it.

Sorry but Rooney was not innocent. The referee has some degree of free will which I doubt would be comprimised by an overpaid little turd like Ronaldo.

You can spin it any which way you like but at the end of the day Rooney acted foolishly and was sent off for it. Whether or not it was overly harsh is not for me or you to decide.

And as for Sven comprimising his own career by actively destroying England's chances; it's frankly laughable.

Sounds like sour grapes all round really. You played an average game of football against a team who played pretty much as bad. Kudos for holding them off with 10 men but at the end of the day you lost. What ever happened to good old fashioned dignity? Try taking it like men by not blaming everyone else but the players.

Aye Sven screwed them - its a testament to the individual skills involved that we got so far with such terrible managment - only bringing 4 strikers when 2 were suspect still seems inexplicable and the 451 system looks designed to lose games and put our best players in a situation where they couldnt perform.

The big question is whether Sven did it out of spite/ a bribe from some betting syndicate or some other national team...

As for Portugal - if you cant beat 10 men in normal play when you've had the advantage for most of the game then your not going to get any further in the competition.

I dont blame Rooney - his temperament is tied into his skill and it must have been obvious that he hates the unsupported striker role.

Never said Rooney was innocent (although I don't think he stamped; he had two players around him and it looked more like he was pushing away than stamping), and it was the push against Ronaldo that got Rooney sent off, which Ronaldo played for, and got. Rooney was wrong, but it doesn't lessen Ronaldo's appalling (and long-term, really stupid) behaviour.

Like most English fans, we've been scratching our heads about the manager's decisions since he announced the squad (and quite a few people since long before that), so maybe you can call it 'sour grapes' but I think most people would classify it as frustration with inexplicable decisions, and because of that, I'll always think that Sven must shoulder most of the blame for England's performance; Beckham as sacrosanct, constantly trying to keep Lampard and Gerrard in the same team, trying to play Italian-style football with English players (look at the number of times we've tried to defend a lead by having 8 men back and blown it under Sven's management), and most of all taking four strikers to Germany, two of whom were unfit, one who is unothordox and one who'd never played first team football for his club! Maybe he didn't do it deliberately, and maybe he's just incompetent, but he's got £20m in the bank and we'll never know...

I dont think Ronaldo particularly cares about what happens at United now anyway, this didnt help the cause, admitting that he wants to leave for Real anyway.

But Ronaldo is a cheating scumbag no matter what way you look at it, the dives that he does, plus his theatrics dont deserve to be in football, Coronation Street maybe, but not football.

I seen the wink that he threw out shortly after Roon's was sent off, you just dont do that -.-

I was maybe a bit harsh with the sour grapes comment. I do agree with the frustration part though. Even those of us who aren't as passionate couldn't fathom some of his player choices.

Absolutely.

I knew they wouldn't beat Portugal, but for some bizarre reason I thought Sven would chop and change things ... but didn't.

Saw that site this morning, the best bit about it is this:

For all of the people, (need we say they are mainly Scottish and Portugese fans), calling this site a joke or telling us that we are out of order for blaming Ronaldo:..

The ABE brigade is still strong it seems :p
