Totally: but that just goes back to Sven's tactical genius in taking only 2 fit strikers - one of which had 0 experience and was never realistically going to play any part.nath said:To be fair to Rooney though, he was made useless by shit formations.
Mobius said:Rooney is such a fucking ****. I really hope the media give him a roasting but theres no way its going to happen. Why is he allowed to do fuck all for an hour then get a teenage strop on and ruin it for the whole team? Hes done it so many times before. Whoever said he has cleaned up his act is a complete fucking moron.
Ronaldo is dislikeable for so many reasons. I can't believe him trying to get Rooney sent off. Rooney should smash his face in once they are back training at Man Utd.

The only option England had was playing Rooney & Owen together - or struggle badly. 5 games have proven that.
Agreed, Hargreaves showed what a great player he isShovel said:To be honest, I'm glad we went out on a bit of a bang. The team played well tonight, as usual raising their game for the big occasion. We'll forget the other games in an instant (if we haven't already) and we can go home feeling bitter that we were the better team on the night (even if we did need to have out ‘best player’ sent off to show it).
Owen Hargreaves was amazing though. His tackling at the beginning and his unexpected ability to run with the ball after Rooney and J. Cole left the field were fantastic. The man deserves some credit given the initial stick he was given when he started out for us.

i watched the first half in the pub, having spent all day photographing scantily clad ladies for an stfc calender (best job ever) and left at half-time. it was bloody rubbish.
a penalty loss was inveitable from the moment portugal beat holland, bloody dutchies had to ruin it for us.
ah well. only 35 days until the REAL football season. only 10 days until our first pre-season friendly.

Penalties seem far more luck than anything else, it doesnt necessarily decide which team "deserves to win"... why go though the pain of having up to 10 shots on goal, why not just flip a coin and be done with it?
I dont feel the outcome of the penalties in tonights game reflected the rest of the match.
