I watched the Ireland game last night as I knew the England game would be absolutely awful, I know what I can expect from the Irish, passion and commitment where they lack skill. For the majority of the game last night, they outplayed the French and it wasn't because they had a better squad, better players, better tactics - they just wanted it.

Buffon - best keeper in the world, period.
Nesta and Cannavaro - two of the best centre backs in the world
Zambrotta - best left back in the world at this point in time, superior to Ashley Cole in most people's opinions.
In the midefield they have Pirlo and Gattuso, again tho of the best midfielders in the world. England could use those pair in their current midfield, they'd gain a bit of grit and creativity. Camoranesi is patchy but still scores goals.
And up front Italy's personnel are second only to Brazil. Totti, Gilardino, Del Piero and Luca Toni are all shit-hot forwards and whilst Vieri is no longer the same force he used to be, he can still knock the odd goal in.

Basically they have more world-class players in each position than England do. So you are talking shite. End of.

Italy are consistently one of the most overrated teams in the world. They have great players, sure, but all too often they have too many primadonna's who believe their own hype and don't perform. Sadly the same can be said for far too many of the current English setup. They will get picked by the star-struck, media wary, manager no matter how poor their recent performances.

Lampard is a case in point [Mank you are surely taking the piss about him being 'world class']. The manager admits that he (and Gerard) have been off colour for club and country yet still picks them!

they've got a very good defence, but their midfielders aren't that good to be honest. They're good, but not world-class. Except Gattuso maybe. I won't comment their attackers. Haven't seen them in action this year, cus I hardly ever watch italian football :|
