haha, I've not heard that one, but I did hear that Sir Alex Ferguson had told Craig Gordon that he'll get Roy Keane to dock his wages if he doesn't keep the French out tonight.
I'm looking forward to tonights game, my second trip to the new wembley :england:
I was going to say Laz, what the fuck are you doing talking about England when Scotland have just done that. I still don't believe it's happened. I've already switched to BBC1 Scotland for the highlights.
That is uber gay. I watched the game on Sky. As ever with watching Scotland, it was the longest hour and a half of my life. Still, what a result. If you'd told me that with 3 games to go we'd be top of a group with the two WC finallists and Sheva's mates in it I would have wondered what you were on.
Nah, the game at Hampden seemed infinitely longer than this one. This time around the belief was there that we could actually do it.
Theres a long way to go yet though, looks like we'll have to beat Georgia & Ukraine then not lose in the final game vs Italy - assuming there isnt some miracle result between now and then to help out along the way.
Why is it the Georgia game that scares me most out of those 3 ...
Scotland were superb tonight and deserve to be top of the group after beating France twice.
England were impressive again, Heskey and Barry more so showing why they should still be in and around the squad. If Lampard get back into the team for the next game if there isnt any injuries to Barry or Gerrard, Mclaren wants his head checked. The central midfield has worked superb with either one of the two holding when necessary, Barry's simple and effective passing (very scholes like) creating chance after chance for the team. 2 games played 3 assists for Barry, Beckham is usually the only one that sets up chance after chance. For Lampard to play Mclaren needs to find a formation that lets him do what he does for Chelsea, maybe then we can see the amount of goals he scores be repeated at international level.
Having a left footer and a right footer in midfield gives us so much more variation for passing up to the front men.
Woo, just got back from tonights game (damn police stopping Wembley Park from becoming overcrowded), fantastic game, great result
Two well taken goals for Owen, and a really good finish from Rio, 6 much needed points. I thought Russia were poor, giving the ball away really easily and I'm pretty sure it was handball from where i was sat (behind that goal).
I'm waiting to see England play against some of the bigger sides before I make a judgement, I wouldn't call them fantastic results just yet as Russia and Israel aren't exactly footballing giants - same as Eng beating USA in the rugby wasn't anything to write home about, despite the newspaper's excitement.
Our qualifying group's full of not-fantastic teams, though the exception Croatia's ranked no. 9 in world to our 7. Hopefully playing all those weaker sides (Israel ranked 33, Russia 19) won't lower our quality when it comes to playing better teams later on.
