England are a second rate side full of talented yet arrogant primadonna's led by the person who was politically the best choice for the FA chosen on politics rather than ability. England always under perform my own view is that they lack motivation to win and at least half of the team couldn`t care less if they win or lose, why this is I really don`t know.

On paper England field one of the best sides in the world by a hell of a long way but never bring home the goods when it matters.

Could not agree more, Mclaren is a nice and easy yes man. The F.A. need a massive kick up the arse. Getting an England cap should be earned and sought after, Lampard does not look like he cares at all, a lot of others also have the same attitude. Lampard done and interview saying that we can look positively at the performance lol Holland were poor and we matched them for lack of effort.

Mclaren is quoted on Sky Sports as saying that from last nights performance the fans can see we are a good team, we gave a good performance and we should have won. He also says that Johnson did well playing out of position, the guy is a moron. I

am a man utd fan, Rooney is a star however I would rather play Johnson up front on his own because he can actually play in that roll successfully and still score goals. Rooney is useless up front on his own. Mclaren is scared that Bent or Johnson score a goal because then he will have to look at playing 2 upfront and actually making a decision to drop Lamp's. He told us all no-one is assured of their place but the whole thing stinks of people knowing they are guaranteed a place because of their domestic ability. Lampard just does not cut it at international level its plain to see has brings nothing to the team.

Gerrard hasn't been able to play his best role because they've always accommodated Lampard.

Maybe that is true but why do you think the last 2 managers have accommodated Lampard? it's because he is probably the best goal scoring midfielder we have had since david platt, ok he aint scoring for england atm but thats got more to do with the way england play rather than his abilty to score imo, as he dont stop scoring for chelsea. Lampard was our top scorer at euro 2002 iirc, and gerrard's only contribution was a back pass that went straight to henry .

seriously tho if Gerrard is such a great central midfield player then why don't he play there for england or liverpool? they don't need to accommodate lampard at liverpool and he still dont play there. I think his best position is central midfield, but i don't think he is head and shoulders above everyone else who plays there like some people think, coz if he was then he would play there no matter who was in the team.

excuse me? Lampard had more shots than anyone else in the world cup and he scored 0 nil squat. so explain to me what has this got to do with playing a different way?

He plays in his exact role for England it just shows his weakness against real world class opposition. He lacks ambition in an England shirt, he might aswell have been a centre half last night because he rarely ventured into their half.

You are a chelsea fan so Im guessing you are biased. You bring up Euro2002, well that was 4 years ago. That like saying Lineker was amazine 15 years ago (random year) and so should be playing up front.

Lampard has not performed for England in couple years at least. Why? The system doesnt suit him. He is a good player, I give you that. But for England he doesnt do it. He looks uninterested alot of the time (not hte only one) and doesnt really do much. And England do accomidate him too much. I would drop Lampard to the bench and switch to 4-4-2. That what England are best at. With J.Cole left and Wright-Phillips right we will have a mix of on the ball ability (cole) and extreme pace with good wing play (phillips). You place a defence midfielder in the middle (carrick seems the fave atm) with Gerrard. Now you give them a couple of games and if they dont perform you look at giving Lampard a go again. See if it actually wakes him up if he is dropped from the team.

And yes Gerrard is played on the right side for Liverpool even though his best position is in the middle. Why? Because he is a very talented player that can play in any position in the middle of the park, just he is that much better in the middle. If you can have 4 decent midfielders by playing Gerrard on the right, or 3 decent and 1 crap midfielder by playing him in the middle then you will pick the first option. I not a fan of liverpool but they looking for their strongest team, problem his their manager has got no idea at the moment

Im no englishman so I may know to little about the players to have a "ok" based opinion but I think England is a bit unlucky.

Unlucky in the terms that they now have 2 very talented players but theyre to similar. Anyone of them (my choice would be Gerrard) + Scholes, would have been a much much better balanced midfield, together they just force any coach to rebuild the team totally. (ofc not saying Scholes should play now hehe).

Look at France and what has been behind Zidane when they have performed good. Deschamps/Petit/Vieira, same goes for Italy, and Brazil. Must have people ready to cover for the playmaker and with 2 playmakers its just focked up.
