Joe Cole man of the match for me by a mile. Only gerrard did anything else.

Worst person of the match is a toss up between that shower of a ref (who was for want of better words, a right fucking clueless ****, well ***** have more uses's) and Sven (ffs, why have Walcott on the bench and not use him to run off peter crouch)

Well, its 3 points in the bag, but a much laboured effort, I wouldnt even say it was workman like, because it wasnt.

WTF.

Gerrard wasn't up his usual standard.

Crouch and Lampard played better than him by a mile. :m00:

Just back from pub, all I can say it is 3 points and not too often have we said that about England after the first game.

We still made it difficult for ourselves, but honestly, did Paraguay really have a decent chance in the 2nd half all? Especially as it was 12 v 11 in the 2nd half, the ref was so one sided it was unbelievable..

Good
Robbo hitting the big screen :p
Beckham crossing the ball so effectively for our first goal, every team beware ;)

Bad
Owen going off
Owen Hargreaves coming on

England have a world class squad but do they have a manager who can make winning, tactical changes? I don't believe so.

A fully grown 36 year old should not be on some internet forums making comments about peoples education though :)

You may be 36 but you're not acting it tbh.

Its your, not tour.

And I am not even English :p

I haven't made any comments about his education, he's the one whose made that statement and come to that conclusion.

At no point have I said to him, you are uneducated. I pointed out the geography teachers at the school he has/is attending perhaps weren't doing their job properly as he seems to have no clue about what being born in England means.

PS I think Gamah was proving the point using 'tour' not your.

nothing wrong with owen hargreaves. Hes a good attacking midfielder.... much better in the holding midfielder position.

the 2nd half of the match today was appalling imo... the formation was just wrong.

Where did I mention "tour" in my post? Gamah made a typo and he will now obviously claim that was intentional sarcasm instead of getting self owned. And if your going to deny that comment was trying to insult me and say my education is poor you even childish then I thought. And no I don't go to a school and I do have more education then some child 36 year old journalist.

Your the one thats taken it too far, Cad did NOT say anything about your educations, your the one that jumped to that conclusion. All she said is geography teachers are not doing their job properly, even I could see that :p

And you're the one throwing insults:twak:

At no point have I insulted you, unlike you who has quite clearly insulted me twice. Therefore I have drawn the obvious conclusion that you are probably still quite young in age and you are immature, as you resort to insults when you're unable to put forward a valid argument using reasoning and thought.

As for your level of education, if you don't understand that someone who is born in England is English, then yes, you have had some very poor quality education.

I am not going to argue over a petty thing which can be looked at both ways and a raciest way and I didn't want to ruin the thread but you obviously have now. Thank god for the wolverine’s guild jumping in this argument for you eh?

If you wan't to carry this on why don't you pm me or make a new thread instead of running this world cup one

Being born in ENGLAND, whatever your colour or your parents racial origin, means you are ENGLISH.
As a consequence of England belonging to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, that also makes you BRITISH.
None of that is in any way, shape or form, racist.

As for the Wolverines jumping in, Mabs has posted as a free thinking individual, none of the other people disagreeing with you are in Wolverines, although obviously you've chosen to ignore that.

I've tried and better tried to be polite to you but you simply don't get it do you?

well the point is still valid, you dont have to be born in a country to be, in this case English. i was born in Germany, both my parents are English, my dad was in the army at the time, i consider myself English and British.

You are English and also British. Also, without belabouring the point, children born to British Armed Forces personel overseas are counted as being born in the British Isles. Different rules apply to children born to serving members of the British Armed Forces while stationed outside the UK.

Anyone can obtain citizenship of another country by applying for the right to live and reside there and be a citizen of that country - ie the USA for example. It's why people even though people can become US citizens they can't become the US president - they have to be born in the USA to qualify as being an American (or on an overseas Armed Forces base etc).

That isn't the argument being discussed here though. Seakul seems to think that being born in England doesn't make you English if your parents come from another country.

3 points, couldn't care less about the performance. I want us hitting form for the knock out stage - right now it's just about results. Swedes being held by T&T was a nice bonus :drink:

As for all this English stuff...if you're born here you CAN call yourself English (or British) but doesn't mean you have to. If people consider themselves Chinese or whatever their parent's nationality may be then that's fine. What I don't get is people saying they are offended by the flag. They're in England and that's our national flag. If they don't like it it's very simple - f*ck off and live somewhere else because we won't let their hang ups stop us celebrating our own national identity through wearing/flying OUR flag.

As I've just said previously, it depends on whether she was born in Germany to members of the British Armed Forces serving overseas or any other British Crown servants, ie those working in British Embassies abroad.

If, however, her parents were German and she was born in Germany and they moved at the age of one year to live somewhere where they were not native citizens, then yes, she is German. She may also hold dual nationality if her parents moved somewhere else and applied for citizenship of that country.

Seriously, it's not difficult. Go take a look at the British Foreign Office website, it explains it all nice and easily.

I am not racist in any way but afaik I know offical English are only "White" so black people might get offended even though they have been born here. So say a chinese boy or kid with two american parents are born and lived here ever since they consider them selfs English.

i know this was posted way back in the argument but.... whites only english? what a load of shite, what about families of black/asian families that have lived in the UK for centuries? are they not english? <waves at Ashley Cole>

your argument is bull and thats it o_O

Centuries ago there was next to no Asian or black familys living in the United Kingdom. The reason we have such a large coloured population these days is because a hell of a lot of men were brought in from abroad after the massive losses we suffered from the second world war. We needed people to do jobs which we simply nolonger had the numbers to do.

In America, it use to be that if you was in America for a certain period of time, you were declared an American.

You're turning inot a broken record.

1. Is was a typo, hardly the same as broken English.
2. I wasn't insulting his spelling, I was insulting his English, it's the simple differences that someone of your "special mentality" would probably not understand.
