I was a bit pissed last night (surprise!) , but I do wonder at the drama these people make of it all. If you think flying a flag is a bit naff, fair enough, dont do it, no ones asking you to, hell, I dont myself. What I do object to though is people trying to tell us not to.

I've solved this whole flag argument for you all

Due to the nature and the quality of driving in England the Department of Transport has proposed a new scheme to allow motorists to identify other poor drivers on the roads with enough warning to allow them to take advance defensive action.

From the middle of May 2006, those drivers who are found to be driving badly - which includes:

- overtaking in dangerous places;

- driving right up the arse of the car in front;

- stopping sharply;

- speeding in residential areas;

- suddenly pulling out without indication;

- performing U turns inappropriately in busy high streets;

- undertaking on motorways and

- taking up more than one lane in multi-lane roads,


These drivers will be issued with flags, white with a red cross, signifying their inability to drive properly.

These flags must be clipped to a door of the car and be visible to all other drivers and pedestrians.

Those drivers who have shown particularly poor driving skills will have to display a flag on each side of the car to indicate their utter lack of skill and general lower intelligence compared with the rest of the general public.

What I do object to though is people trying to tell us not to.

Here's an idea - get pissed off when someone tells you not to, or simply ignore them. Don't get wound up at second/third hand reports that someone somewhere may have been asked to take their flag down, and it may or may not have been due to people thinking it's racist.

i went into my matchday 'local' in swindon a week or two back, you can't stand at the bar - or anywhere else - without being attacked by giant england flags.

i bought a 3x5 flag the other day and can't find a way to hang it outside my window, oops.

I didn't say you wouldn't be able to get in the car, just that you wouldn't be able to unlock it any easier.

I had a car a bit back that wouldn't unlock, or do anything at all, if you smashed the windows, which someboby did just to prove it. They smashed all my windows to get at a bicycle that was on the back seat, but when they couldn't open the doors still they forced the bike through the window frame and bent the door all out of shape. It would have been far cheeper for me if they could have opened the door, or if I just left it unlocked for them.

I have to agree flying a flag is great, flying ten is just fucking sad and is on par with the lamest of uneducated wankers wearing too much Elizabeth Duke. What a lot of people fail to realise is that the over-reaction from the PR massive to the blood cross is a direct result of real racist issues. Once again the pride that the majority wish to express over their national heritage is ruined by the minority.

I'd be interested to know how many of those that are keen to fly ten flags actually bothered to vote? Of course you are entitled to an opinion and can air it here but it's one thing to spout off and another to actually be pro-active about making a change....

I note we've had no policemen mentioning the number of cars with the symbol for Pakistan or India on their numberplates, hanging from the mirror on as possibly 'inciting' racism.
