I apologise think i divided instead of multiplying or something along those line, repeated it and got the same as you 0.03, think that a different concentrations might be a good idea to make volume more significant, in which case the of values will all need changing except for volume of acid. Again sorry about that, would stick around and redo it but in need of some kip. Good luck.

Thanks everybody for your help,

We remembered that the 0.03 was in dm^3 and so the volume was quite nice.
Found in her notes that she was being "given" a 250cm^3 flask from which to do 10 titrations and so it all started to fit together nicley. Presumably she "makes up" 250ml acid sol. and then pippettes 10 lots of 25ml
Sorted. Thanks everybody who helped, especially crispy and UrganNagru! If you ever get stuck on law homework (;)) gimmie a yell!

pretty sure your meant to get told exactly what to do for a-level coursework :p

My teachers always gave as much help/direction as they could, due to the grades reflecting back on them

Tilda i did this pretty much same experiment with different chemicals, i can send you my copy via pm if you like, just as something to work from and to see an easy way of setting it out.

For some very useful tips there are forums out there where students all go to talk about the chemistry and biology coursework. And you DO have to work backwards, otherwise your using trial and error which is just silly. :fluffle:

She went to school and asked the teacher about the circular part (ie, you can work out mass if you guess and use 118 RMM, or you can work out 118 if you know the mass, but you're given neither and so you have to guess one or the other) and she said yes she expected people to work backwards from the 118, so its all groovy.

Thanks everybody!

I had great fun doing titration calcs at A-Level... thank fuck I can't remember anything about them now. Alcohol made sure of that.

That and the STD's from those dirty Stoke slags :p

Cause decimetres^3 = 1 liter :D

But its less actually writing to use litres :p Its easier to write 1L than 1dm^3 :p
Time spent labelling = time wasted so my comment stands!

thuh! Bloody kids and their lar-de-da schooling! Coming home with their calculations and such. In my day we used to have to put our backs into it. No fancy equations were around then to help us out. No online superhighway of information and free answers back then. Count the atoms you lazy upstart and weigh the molecules individually. Life's just one big shortcut for you isn't it? Avogadro must be spinning in his grave.
