Yes, easily with necro + BB - though getting it to drop is the hard part.

And yep, he can be a fair distance from the chests.

Yes, he can be done easily.

He wanders a little, but if he's up you can't really miss him.

And yes, other than the looks the hauberk is a pile of shit

Easily done with necro + bb, you need the last damage shield from dservant line to kill him in time for the hauberk to drop (think you got 10 mins to kill him after giving him the key or something for it to drop)
