My hunter was lvl 45.65 today when 1.71 went live. I went out and leveled to 46, hoping that this would qualify me for the free level from 46-47.

"All characters will now be granted enough experience for a free level every seven days, if the character has attained a level by regular play in that time. In other words, if you play your character and gain at least one level in a seven day period, your character will be given enough experience for the next level free."

I did get a level by regular play within 7 days - I did it this night. Why don't I get a free level? Or am I supposed to get that free level in 1 week?

/confused

Afaik there's also a lvl cap of 44 or 46 on it.. something like that. Read it in patch notes iirc.

Now, when players attain a level on their character through normal leveling methods during a seven day period, the character will gain a free level's worth of experience and coin appropriate to each level, up to level 47. On underpopulated realms, the time required to gain a level may be decreased to as little as two days.

Can see that doesn't apply for you tho.. thought it was 44 or 46 ^^

If i dinged a day before the patch think it will count then? Doesnt really say when the week started, assuming that it is the day of the patch so it wont count.

This does not make sense

Hello Everyone,

Call me silly but surely it should not work this way ? I thought they did this to help more casual players lvl faster ? It would make sense if they give you a free lvl if you do NOT gain more than 1 lvl in a 7 day period ? otherwise they will be giving free lvls to everyone even the Moderna PL groups ..

Does anyone actually know how this works for sure ? if so please can you explain it to me as I find the whole thing over comlicated :)

Take care and hugs all round

As far as I can tell, it will work like this:

From the time you first logged that character in since 1.71 went live, you play as normal and if you gain a level within 7 days you get enough XP for the free level.

E.g. You log in at 18:00 GMT on Wednesday 12th Jan (the first time since patch). You play as normal and must gain a level any time between that first login and 17:59 GMT on Weds 19th Jan. At 18:00 on the 19th the game checks back a week and if you have gained a level, you get a pop-up telling you that you have gained enough experience for a free level and then you go and see your trainer, click on him and he awards you the XP.

I'm pretty sure you can only gain 1 level and still get the free level, if you get 2 levels in a week you will not be able to get a free lvl

If you gain a second level, you will get enough XP to take you from the first level gained to the next

E.G. you are level 30 and gain a level to 31 - after a week you would get the amount of XP required to take you from level 31 to 32

however - If you level again to get to 32 before that week is up, you will still only get the amount of XP required to take you from level 31 to 32, so would end up at 32.8 or something (dont know the exact figures).

sozz to put a downer or should i say a smile but u still get a free lvl (almost) even if you lvl more than once within the week, i lvl'd 10 times from 34 to 44 on my hunter was at 44.7 and got messge u are able to get free xp, now i did not get a full lvl around 8 bubs worth but still put me on 45.5 so i dinged and mini dinged but i did not get points on mini ding, i popped out of agiers to see what range i had on my bow, and hit a very grey con skelly just out side the town, and i got the ding and got the mini lvl ding point's...

So to the full lvl, i only lost 2 bubs worth of xp due to the lvling, so was not a big amount to lose

:wij:

But maybe they will correct that over time and nerf the amount of xp you get...

When the pop up telling you that you are eligible for a free level appears, the game checks your current level and works out how much xp to give you. When you next talk to your trainer you will be awarded exactly enough xp to go from zero bubs in your current level to zero bubs in your next level. If you're already part way into your current level when you see your trainer you will get the same amount of xp but it won't be worth ten full bubbles. You'll still go to the next level but because you need more xp per bubble at your new level than you did at your old one, you'll be a bit further back than you were.

For example: Say it takes 10 xp to go from level 1 to level 2, 20 xp from 2-3 and 30 xp from 3-4. You exactly ding level 2, don't play again for a week and are eligible for a new level when you next log in. Your trainer is going to give you 20 xp which will take you straight to the beginning of level 3. On your way to your trainer you get into some fights and earn 10 xp putting you halfway to level 3 before you get there. You talk to your trainer who gives you your 20 xp. It only takes you 10 xp to get to level 3 so the other 10 xp are carried over. However 10 xp at level 3 isn't half a level it's only a third of a level so you'll be just over 3 bubs into your new level instead of ten bubs on from where you started.
