Windows messaging service. I think i've heard it called "netsend" in the past, allthough i would hardly know. You're doomed to be spammed by adverts in this way, for all eternity, due to choosing a poo operating system.

Or you just search the forums/web for the solution to disable it :(

Or you could fdisk and install a proper, non-gh3y OS!

He's not hacked, he's just got spyware / advert type software installed. Try a program called Adaware. (I think) That should help remove things.

p.s I hope you're using Win2k and not 98!

There is a reason Windows is the most popular operating system. See if you can find it.

Start menu - control panel - adminstrative tools - services

scroll down to messenger, right click go to properties click stop then on the drop down box (startup type) scroll down and click disable.

problem sorted.

That's one of the reasons. ABILITY TO CONTROL SERVICES BY SOME MEANS OTHER THAN THE COMMAND LINE!

I'm sure I'll think of something...is it because it is free?

Can't be that.

Is it because it has an excellent feature set that is worth paying for?

...

Sorry, I'm stuck.

So, Microsoft stamps down on backup ups, and you'll all be opening config files in vi and asking for help. Not that linux is even like that nowadays.

The big thing I find holding gamers back is DirectX being so popular with developers. It just doesn't transfer across like OpenGL. If I could run all my games in *nix, I'd ditch the Windows box.

How do you play PC Games designed for M$ windows if you only have Linux installed?

Err, I guess you are talking about Neverwinter Nights, which almost runs under linux. I think they are stuck with getting the mousewheel to behave for some reason.

Some games have linux ports, some run under emulation using programs such as Wine and WineX.

And some don't work at all.;)
