my north bridge's fan has stopped spinning!! or rather, it's turning at about 0.5Hz now o0

it's an asus branded fan on my A8N. d'you think I should RMA the thing or swap it for a zalman passive heatsink (that I'll have to get)?

the poota's working just fine. I only noticed the bridge fan cos I heard the pc's noise change and opened it up :/

edit: it's started spinning again, but the noise is wierd

get a blue zalman passive heat sink, its wot i use on all me pcs and reduces the noise of the crappy northbridge fans preety much all mobo makers use.

My northbridge fan died ages ago - fell off actually. Haven't had a problem yet.

argh. it goes against my grain a bit to have a broke bitty in my poota and not do anything. I'm scared somebody hold me

Common failure on many, many boards and hardly a bother. Grab a decent passive one and use it. If you're using high performance settings & playing lots of CPU munching games that will heat thinks up drastically, don't leave it broken.
I think they're designed to fail, always the weakest point of most boards :|

bah. I've never had one before I'll be getting a passive one, but all teh damn webshops are trying to charge me a 7eur delivery for a 2 eur part

yes, but "real" shops here tend to be fools who do not have things like north-bridge heatsinks in stock. they will ask me why I don't just RMA the whole mobo
