Why are drugs illegal then?
My guess is that the people at the DEA in the US are against ALL drugs that alters your perception. And theres no discussing this with them. Best example might be the E case. Clear evidence that its a good drug for treating people with certain psychological problems without any side effects (well seen in the light of alot of other drugs used to treat various diseases. Still E got classified as a class 1 drug which means it had no medical use and is a very unhealthy substance. Clearly if they had looked at the actual evidence at the time they couldn't have classified it as a class 1 drug (taken from the video). Hence my belief that they are generally against all drugs, and want to prohibit whatever they can get away with.

And well generally if a drug is illegal in the US its prolly also going to be illegal here. And THATS why i believe certain drugs are illegal.

right didnt know you worked in market research sorry mate

Well, you're looking at a worldwide-taken drug.

You're asking if ~100 people equals the whole E-taking population.

Secondly, you're all most likely of the same 'group' so to speak. None of you live in poverty. None live on the streets. None are hardcore drug takers etc.

The idea of a survey is to get a whole range of answers from a whole range of people.

Isn't that obvious? :eek7:

Oh and I touched on it in Business Studies & IT but it's not rocket science anyway.

what figures you looking for?

Cause i am a club promoter so i could get you at least 700 next month at my next event

sparx, although it doesnt represent a massive proportion of uses (although what research does these days?) do it anyway, post it here.

it will be interesting to see if the stance goes from "thats not enough" to something else.

see my second post, cant say that every person in the club is in the same pay bracket etc.

But when doing research you need to stick to the right areas, your not going to ask a man what the best tampon or an old 80 yo woman what the best skiis she has used

how about the 3 clubbing website i use with 250,000+ members each? i'm sure i could get a fair few of them to take a survey

No offence but you're single experiance of a drug is worth fuck all because everyone has different reactions and tolerants to drugs.

None taken, In general though one person tends to deal with addicitons in similar ways. That is to say one person that gets addicted to eating, drinking and gambling is likely to be suseptable to addictive illegal drugs as well.

I have what is generaly know as an 'addictive personality', I gamble, drink, smoke, take some drugs, play stupid MMORPGS for far too long, am constantly battling my eating habbits etc. Do you not think its strange that I can quit E without a second thought?

Still, such a survey has to be conducted over a huge expanse. Some sampled surveys are done by surveying about 1% of the population in question, but consdering I don't know the number of people who take E's, it may even have to be 0.1%-0.5%.

Would you like to back that up with statistics?

You won't be able to.

What kind of statistics, I merely commenting on that fact that Ecstacy is a purley mental additction, not a totally addictive substance such as Heroine or Nicotine, you just get hooked on how it makes you feel, not on the actual chemicals themselves. The same way toast could make you feel so great, so you become addicted to it :p

My guess is you crave for the harder drugs instead of E's or there simply not strong enough?

But yes, that's strange and I guess it's down to just the way you're built or sommet :p Or maybe your body hates the letter E :(

True! :(

What's the actual aim of the conversation? Are we looking at legalising the drug or unlegalising alcohol/smoking (or atleast prohibiting it). I see governments wagering for the second option tbh.

The thing is Bugz i wouldnt bother with doing the survey because i'm not trying to change your opinion on drug usage, your not on my radar IRL and i'm not yours, just trying to explain to you that what you have read isnt worth shit if you havent experienced it.

I've stood by the thought that if you havent personally tried something (drugs or otherwise) then you dont have a valid opinion. Like i said earlier reading Wiki or a government website doesnt mean you have an opinion

I just simply never craved E. When your addicted to something you want it frequently, the thought 'oh I really need a sandwich' or 'damn im dying for a ciggy' will pop into my mind anywhere at any time, thats physical addiction. The only time I ever thought about seek out any ecstasy was when I was already inside a club and wanted one to make the night go better, thats maybe 'psychological addiction' but nothing in the same leage as toast ;)

Prohibition didn't work for America in the 20's, it's not going to work anywhere else today.

The laws on drugs, nicotine and alcohol will remain the same because that's the easiest option that any government can take. Better to stick with what you already know works (well, sort of) than to change something at the risk of fucking everything up.

i dont know really. seems to like a free for all for people to unload their (apparent) knowledge.

and i doubt sparx wants stronger drugs than E but they arnt there. i take it your using the gateway theory (which isnt proven, more of a scare tactic) to try scare parents to be more strict or what ever. anyone who believes someone will go from cannabis to heroin just because they used cannabis, is so very very wrong.

the radio adverts for services like FRANK or the local support lines for people wanting answers on drugs, make me angry.
its fair cop saying "talk to frank if you want answers" what isnt fair cop is the shit they put out like that brain factory add.
im all for supplying unbiased information on drugs. im not for saying the drug does this and that just to scare people.

This is true. Some people I know who use cocaine, which is supposedly a "hard" drug, have never touched cannabis in their life. It's just more bullshit government anti-drug propaganda to try and keep us in line like good little sheep.

Hence why I said 'my guess.' It was a guess.

I doubt neither of us and a lot of other people could not describe why that occurs for him. His an individual and so his system of cravings etc. may be entirely different to ours.

But you ofcourse, run the risk of this thread getting locked by calling me a cock etc. etc. If you really can't post without involving abuse then don't.

Fair play. But you have to admit making a stupid generalisation like that doesnt do the debate any favours at all

i guess the only time it will be true is for people who are pre disposed to such actions, which you dont know untill you try. they can say all they want that social interactions and pressure will make you carry on up the drug ladder, but it really isnt true.
the only person who decides what you do is your self. if you get to a point where you feel forced to take cocaine because of some reason or other then surely if you really didnt want it youd make a change somewhere.
ive had ample oppurtunities to take just about any drug available, i havent done so and never will if i can help it.
its easier here to get H than pot but i dont see every smoker rushing out to buy the shit :p

My knowledge is my experience, I cannot offer more. It would be rather boring, having a forum where we'd all be silent unless it was our .. hobby? ...

Yes - was a poor generalisation but it does help to show the total lack of complete & factual knowledge regarding the subject.

Doesn't help that the government's refuse to educate us on why they are illegal etc.

I don't see what is wrong with the current system at the moment. They are illegal but if people want them, they get them. I don't care about that and i'm sure many others don't as long as they crack down on those who sell the tampered shit.

But I think making it legal will have dire consequences because x and y will be trying them out and it may be an incentive for people to try to legalise other drugs and expand into that particular area. I just don't see how legalising benefits anyone - except perhaps by taxing the stuff to buggery.

im not saying dont give your knowledge, i was saying what i thought this thread was for. people are just unloading knowledge, it was in response to bugz.

secondly, the things i hear on the radio are most certainly biased.
saying E scrambles your brain and makes you need a new one is a load of fucking shite.
