Well, I wouldn't be suprised if some time in the future it ends up illegal as it's already beginning to become illegal to smoke in public places etc.

And to be honest, the money made through the taxing of it is huge but the difference wouldn't be so substanial if you include every single cost related to smoking - ie. healthcare, possible housing etc.

Yes but, people will still smoke even if its illegal (im sure if it was illegal, people would still be able to make cigs). Therefore the government lose out on the tax, but still have to fork out for healthcare.

True and it's part of the reason why our government fails so bad - the good, law-abiding people get shafted by the silly shits that abuse the system.

But my point still stands that even if they leave tobacco as semi-legal in certain places, they should not encourage the use of abusing potentially (and in some cases - definitely) harmful drugs by making them legal.

Smoking will not become illegal! It will be made to be socially unacceptable and the habbit will die out i'd say in the next 1/2 generations.

Treatment for people abusing illegal drugs? WTF. You're helping a silly low-life with my taxes (okeyokey - parents before I get qq'ed at ;))

Nice & well decorated prisons - contains all your latest gadgets - TV's/Playstations etc.

Hit and run drivers getting very small sentences for their crimes - even though some are illegally driving and illegally in the country.

Crime being a means of escaping the streets etc. -> better life inside than outside.

I could say quite a few more problems with our government to be honest.

that doesnt mean much since we joined the EU and took on its glorious rules.

I kinda agree that fun should come from within, not by some chemical.

The fun you speak of is coming from a chemical either way. The body can create these chemicals on its own and make your brain react in a way which makes you happy, however this isn't enough for some people. So, sometimes people take drugs to top up the chemicals. I don't see anything wrong with this.

Also, the dickhead on that video who compares ecstasy-use to playing russian roulette is talking out of his fat arse. There's a 1 in 6 chance of dying when you play russian roulette, there's about a million to one chance of dying from taking ecstasy. It's his kind of exaggerated bullshit which made the drug illegal in the first place.

I don't know how reliable this website is, but apparently "more people in the UK die from choking on peanuts than from taking ecstasy."

Ecstacy is just as addicitive as toast is, but I personally dont get enough enjoyment out of toast to become an addict and I don't have an addictive personality, except for MMORPGs of course (but thats not a REAL addiction, more a way to erase boredom).
I'll admit to taking an E once and I wont deny it, it was possibly one of the best experinces I've had, beats drinking hands down, for one you dont wake up with a head feeling several sizes too big and a slowly corrupted liver + my family has had bad experinces with alcohol in the past so I'm very wary of it :p.
But I'm not gunna say "Yay this was awesome I'm gunna do this everyday to feel better about myself" It was a once in a decade kinda thing and thats how it should be IF your actually gunna try it. This was video was refreshing so at least I know I don't have massive holes in my brain, and its something I might be open too again in the future, I found the whole goverment propaganda more intresting than the rest of the video anyway, its amazing that they still do it, even though everyone hates it :p

well i dont eat penuts or take ecstasy. so im less likely to die than someone who does either of them. Its about playing the averages. all the odds i make back by not doing stupid drugs i can invest in something alot more fun. like skydiving. rahh.

So you think that if we legalized marijuana for instance that every kid in the country would run around addicted?

I think not (first of all its not physically addicting), secondly, i think most people have tried it already without it being legal. Making it legal wouldnt change much. At least thats view.

Care to come with your point instead of just making an ass of yourself?

illegal drugs are illegal for a purpose. and no ammount of narrow minded "documentaries" will change things. well, apart from a select few countries that still have quite a few years left to catch up to the rest of the civilisation.

the REAL problem that most of u "i'm for legalizing megameights!!!1one" ppl dont want to understand, isnt that those drugs are dagerous by default. its the EFFECT they would have if they WERE made legal. just look at the fucking alcoholics and see how much THOSE ppl cost each and every fucking year. current drug addicts costs how much more? and u want to make MORE drug addicts?

so what if we legalize ecstasy? then what? someone is gonna make a "documentary" claiming that opium isnt as bad as some other drug so we should legalaze that to? crack anyone? herion?

see, thats whats making drug abusing dangerous. it shuts down your fucking brain so u cant think properly and start making topics like this.

rant over.

Wow, youre right. I have absolutely no evidence! Its almost as if i was joking or making an ironic comment about the ridiculousness of using odds and averages in a discussion like this.

Thank you Bugz, your lack of intelligence is a constant driving force that helps me to complete all my college work on time lest i turn out as fucking moronic as you :)

Good point for sure, but why don't we ban alcohol then?

Learn to read who I quoted maybe?

Obviously you're the moronic one who needs to read and not try to post smartass replies and failing :)

Edit - I love when someone self-pwns themselves. Makes my day :D

bit late for that now. but sure, i would be all for that to as i dont drink ;)

but if they knew back then what they know now about alcohol and tobacco, they would have been banned to. why? because they cost to much in healthcare.

but plain banning something thats beem legal since day 1 of discovery (apart from a few years in the US) would cause such a massive uproar and quite possibly violence, its just not doable. slowly phasing it out might work but i doubt theres a country that would be willing to try. mostly for tax reasons, job opportunitys and stuff like that.

and about time too. a few of us would appreciate it if you did some research into your arguments :)
it really makes you seem extremely close minded just saying what you think as being truth, rather than saying what is fact.

any fool (like you did) who compares cannabis to opium obviously needs a massive black dildo in the arse to sort them selves out.

here is a very small bit of info for you. opium works by physically destroying some receptors which leads to its addiction.

thats obviously very cut down, maybe you can research it and come back again.

Err no.

You posted 6 minutes after me - If I had edited it, the note would have been present under the post.

Now stop trying to be a lil smartass and accept that you need to read before trying to be 'the intelligent one.'

And how the fuck does it not make sense? Someone said E is as addictive as toast and I told them to back it up.

Seriously, mr.intelligent - learn your basics -> reading.

Don't do drugs. It's quite simple and thus not that hard really.

Problem solved, next major issue?

its not that simple. i assume you base this on the fact that because they are illegal it means they are bad?

might just stop responding now though. i feel weve coverd every single angle on drugs in the other 600 threads :)

No, I base this on the fact that I do know quite alot of idiots who take drugs. These are not the kind of people that I enjoy hanging out with, these are not the kind of people who look über healthy. Tell me, what's so challenging and exciting in taking some random pill or smoking some random shit? The adrenaline of doing something forbidden? Or merely the high and blurry feeling?

I havent taken E for over 5 years now. I found it a lot of fun when I was young, really enjoyed the experience but a combination of the quality of supply and increasing age made me quit. The comedowns started to last days and wernt worth the night of pleasure. I wont touch it again, mainly cause I know how low it can make you feel after and I think that affects your overall mood and attitude for a hell of a lot longer than most people realise. Your effectivly happier than youve ever been on E, but happiness is all relative and some part of your subconcious misses that new level that your very unlikely to achieve without the help of drugs again. I have a lot of fond memories of hugging random strangers, dancing like an idiot and shagging for hours that ill treasure. I dont regret taking E, but I wouldnt recommend it either, if you want to expand your horizons go take some Acid and learn more about yourself from a drug that is far less toxic that caffine and doesnt mess with your seretonin and domapine levels like MDMA does.

Yeah Ive heard that one, another good statistic quote about E I saw confirmed in a few place is..

"If you have a 14 year old daughter, its safer for her to goto a club and take a couple of Es than it is for her to take a horseridding lesson"

it really is responses like this which make me wonder if you thought this through.
who said anything about everything in life should be a challenge? i care not that its forbidden, the thought never crosses my mind. i dont sit there in the serenity of my room, listenting to my classical music and think "omg tris-, this is illegal, DO IT DO IT".

if i want andrenaline (which why would i if i plan on relaxing?) id be out competing in something competitive or doing something daring (smoking pot isnt daring).

the only challenging thing is resiting the chocolate. once you taste it there really is no going back.

edit: contrary to the above post i wouldnt recommend LSD to explore your self. not only are you chancing having terrifying flash backs but you could also end up with a lifelong problem with your visual awareness. salvia on the other hand... im not saying anything, last time the thread got closed for some reason :\
